What Would You Fix at the Disney Parks with an Unlimited Budget?

Recently, most of the news about Disney that has made headlines has surrounded the Walt Disney World Resort, and involved the Disney vs. DeSantis feud involving the Walt Disney Company and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and any new developments in the lawsuits between the new Reedy Creek Improvement District board and Disney. However, that is by no means the only thing that’s been going on at the Parks. In fact, during this time, the Parks have been function as usual, with Guests enjoying the variety of entertainment on offer, or on the flip side, suffering ride breakdowns and unfortunate circumstances.

While the Disney Parks are known to be the ultimate Disney vacation spot, they don’t always live up to expectations for many Guests. Many times over the past few years the question of maintenance has come up when Guests have expressed their frustrations with iconic rides being in sorry states.

A good example is Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland Resort; the once beloved ride has been noted to be in a less-than-ideal condition with various parts and mechanics of it being found in states of disrepair.

Addressing this reality, one fan took to the Disneyland Subreddit to ask fellow Guests a simple question: “If you can refurbish one ride with an unlimited budget, which ride and what would you do to make it better?”

Fans in the comments immediately jumped in to share their thoughts. One responded that the Winnie the Pooh attraction would be their choice and they would want to make it “Tokyo level good.”

Another brought up Indiana Jones Adventure, again. They said, “Indiana Jones. Fix everything to how it was in 95 and do some improvements along the way,” adding a detailed list of the various improvements Disney needed to make to the attraction regain some of its former glory.

Another fan brought up the People Mover, “If the budget is unlimited, can I say People Mover? It would be great if those tracks actually had a ride on them again.”

This attraction closed in 1995 in favor of the more technologically  advanced Monorail, but it’s one that many Guests still remember fondly.

While Disney’s budget is certainly not unlimited, the exercise of reimagining the Parks without considering of constraint is one that Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro alluded to during the D23 Expo last year, when he shared blue sky ideas for new lands, rides, and attractions at the Disney Parks. Perhaps the fact that D’Amaro had little more to share than the blue sky ideas is a sign of good things to come and Disney finally fixing some of these attractions and giving them some long-overdue TLC.
