According to the Disney Parks Blog, Mickey’s Toontown (which is a portion of Disneyland Resort that has recently been closed for an “ambitious reimagining”) is officially coming back in the spring — and now we have the exact date!

The Disney Parks Blog announced the date alongside today’s birthday celebrations for Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, and confirmed that Mickey’s Toontown is coming back for Disneyland Guests to enjoy on March 8, 2023!

Disneyland Park had shared a bit more about the changes that we could expect during the D23 Expo this summer in Anaheim, particularly when it came to the addition of new “interactive play areas” and “a new era of inclusive experiences”.

The main focus in the new Disneyland Park version of Mickey’s Toontown seems to be “open, grassy play spaces for everyone to unwind”. Highlights will include CenTOONial Park, which will have both “a beautiful fountain featuring water tables designed for play” and “a nearby dreaming tree with sculpted tree roots providing an opportunity for children to crawl and explore.”

New attractions will include Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which will be found inside the El CapiTOON Theater and will involve Guests being thrust into “the wacky and unpredictable cartoon world of Mickey and Minnie” with Goofy as your companion. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will actually open on January 27, even though Mickey’s Toontown won’t open until March 8!

Speaking of Goofy, the beloved Disney character is also getting his own space called Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard, which contains “a whimsical sound garden” and “an all-new, elevated clubhouse” — not to mention “a fun, interactive candy-making contraption that only Goofy could imagine”!

Donald Duck is also getting some special treatment with Donald’s Boat and Donald’s Duck Pond, which will contain “larger-than-life spinning water lilies, balance beams and rocking toys…that will help little ones get the wiggles out”. Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby will also make appearances in Donald’s Boat!

Not to be left out, Chip and Dale the chipmunks are also showing off their own kid-friendly roller coaster called Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster — and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin is coming back, too!

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be showing off their own special homes as well in the Disneyland Park, with plenty of opportunities for Character Meet and Greets with the dynamic duo (since it’s Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse’s birthday, this is particularly good news).

All of this play and exploration is sure to make Disneyland Guests hungry, so options like the Café Daisy (inspired by Daisy Duck) will offer diner-style comfort food while the Toontown Farmers Market within Good Boy! Grocers will offer quick-service snacks and beverages.

The initial announcement about the new plans for Mickey’s Toontown happened back in 2021 around this time of year, so the return of the area has been highly anticipated by many Disneyland Guests and Disney fans!

Disney Fanatic will continue to keep a close eye on any news relating to Mickey’s Toontown and its treutnr to the Disney Park in Disneyland Resort!
