For fans who have been eagerly awaiting news about Disney’s ‘Freaky Friday 2,’ we have information that will make you happy!

For years now, fans have been clamoring for a sequel to one of the most beloved teen movies of all time, Freaky Friday. The Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis starrer won hearts and minds when it came out over twenty years ago in 2003 and became a classic Disney film.

In October 2022, the entertainment industry was abuzz with the possibility of a sequel to the timeless classic Freaky Friday, spearheaded by none other than Jamie Lee Curtis.

Cut to 2024, Curtis’ dreams for a sequel have come true, and we know for a fact that the Freak Friday sequel is definitely in the works at the Walt Disney Company.

In the latest news, we also officially know who will be directing the movie.

Nisha Ganatra—most well-known for her work in the 2020 film The High Note with Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross, along with 2019’s Late Night, starring Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson, and most recently, episodes of Hulu’s “Welcome to Chippendale’s”—will be the director for the film.

 

Andrew Gunn, who produced the first film, is producing the sequel, along with former Disney exec Kristin Burr.
