Former Disney Child Star Promises To “Expose Hollywood”

Former Disney star Alyson Stoner introduced their upcoming podcast, “Dear Hollywood,” recently, promising to expose Hollywood.

Working in Hollywood from a young age is no easy task. Despite the fact that laws do exist to protect child actors, be it protecting them from working too-long hours, many child actors, especially those who have worked with the Walt Disney Company, like Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Miley Cyrus, have reported how difficult it can be to work with Hollywood studios at such a young age.

Most recently, former Disney star Alyson Stoner jumped on the bandwagon to share their experiences.

Alyson Stoner Introduces ‘Dear Hollywood’

Alyson Stoner took to Instagram to announce their upcoming podcast, Dear Hollywood, in which they talk about how child stardom is a “unique cultural phenomenon” and casts an incredibly dark shadow that can be invisible to those on the outside. They shared in the caption of the Instagram post, “Precocious young talents skyrocket to success only to repeat horror stories of addiction, decimated fortunes, and suicide.”

They also ask, “What is behind the toddler-to-train wreck pipeline? Why hasn’t it stopped?”

Fans in the comments were largely supportive of Stoner’s new project, sharing their gratitude for Stoner’s bravery in speaking out about these topics. Fellow child star Erin Sanders wrote, “Wow, I’m so proud of you – and also you look totally amazing. Love your voice, your confidence, your hair, your styling.”

What Made Alyson Stoner Famous?

Alyson Stoner shot to fame for their role in the Cheaper by the Dozen films. They began as a child actor at the age of seven; their career began in 2001 as the co-host of the Disney Channel Mike’s Super Short Show along with Michael Alan Johnson. After this, they also appeared in various Disney Channel and Nickelodeon television shows such as They have also appeared in several television shows aimed at the preteen audience, including The Suite Life of Zack & CodyThat’s So Raven, and Drake & Josh.

What Movies Has Alyson Stoner Been In?

While Alyson Stoner was most well known for her roles in the Cheaper by the Dozen films, they have also been in Camp Rock, the Step Up movies, Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe, The Little Engine That Could, and The A-List among others.

They also have appeared as a backup dancer in several music videos, notably Missy Elliott’s “Work It”, “Gossip Folks”, and “I’m Really Hot”, Eminem’s “Just Lose It”, and the Kumbia Kings’s “No Tengo Dinero.” They have also been a backup dancer for Outkast at the 2004 Kids’ Choice Awards and for Will Smith’s 2005 performance at the award show.

Why Did Alyson Stoner Shave Her Head?

In 2019, Alyson Stoner also received a lot of attention for shaving their head.  Stoner has been open about their past struggle with mental health and addiction. They suffered from anxiety and have been hospitalized in the past. Stoner has also spent time in rehab and struggled with anorexia and bulimia.

In a move meant to “take control of their identity,” they drastically changed their appearance by shaving their head. They explained, “Shaving my head is an act of mental health and confidence, not self-destruction. I can’t tell you how many beliefs and opinions and insecurities fell to the floor with every tuft of hair, and I’m leaving them there. I’m shedding one era and rising as a new being in real time.”
