Disney Springs is preparing for another round of changes, and this time, several familiar restaurants, stores, and even a popular pedestrian shortcut are involved.
Walt Disney World recently filed a new collection of construction permits, with seven filings tied to locations around Disney Springs. While Disney hasn't revealed exactly what each project will entail, the permits show that work is planned across multiple parts of the shopping and dining district.
For guests visiting over the coming months, that could mean construction walls, maintenance work, temporary closures, or changes to how they move around Disney Springs.
Seven Disney Springs Locations Are Getting Attention
The new permits primarily involve locations around The Landing and Town Center.
Disney's Facility Asset Management team filed the permits, while Buena Vista Construction Company is listed as the contractor. Each filing describes the planned work simply as “General Construction.”
That leaves plenty of unanswered questions.
Disney hasn't announced major refurbishments or permanent closures connected to the permits. The Facility Asset Management involvement also suggests at least some of the projects could involve regular maintenance or upgrades rather than dramatic transformations.
Still, the locations involved will certainly get Disney fans' attention.
Permits cover Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant, Paddlefish, The LEGO Store, The BOATHOUSE, UNIQLO, and Happy Hound Kiosk.
Another permit involves the pedestrian bridge connecting the Marketplace and Town Center areas near The LEGO Store.
A Popular Disney Springs Shortcut Could Be Affected
The bridge project could have the biggest immediate impact on guests.
This crossing provides a convenient shortcut across the lagoon, allowing visitors to move between different areas without taking the longer route around the water.
Disney hasn't confirmed that the bridge will close. It also hasn't provided dates for the project. However, depending on the extent of the construction, guests could eventually find their normal route temporarily unavailable.
Meanwhile, work at the restaurants and stores could be much less noticeable. General construction permits can cover many different projects, and there's currently nothing suggesting all of these businesses will close.
Changes Could Continue Into 2027
The permits are set to expire on September 21, 2027, giving Disney a considerable window to complete the projects.
That doesn't mean construction will last an entire year. Some of the work could be completed relatively quickly, while other projects may not begin immediately.
For now, the biggest takeaway is that Disney has multiple Disney Springs projects on the way.
The BOATHOUSE, Raglan Road, Paddlefish, UNIQLO, The LEGO Store, Happy Hound Kiosk, and the pedestrian bridge are all on the construction radar.
Exactly how much guests will notice remains to be seen, but Disney Springs is clearly preparing for another round of updates.
