All Aboard!
After four full years of waiting and speculation, The Walt Disney World Railroad finally reopened to Magic Kingdom Guests on Friday, December 23, 2023. Just in time for Christmas.
The news was shared by Theme Park Insider Scott Gustin on Twitter, pointing to the update to the Disney World website.

Upon our own look at the Disney World website, we at Disney Fanatic concur that the iconic attraction is no longer listed as “closed for refurbishment.” Other commentators across social media platforms are also affirming that the narrow-gauge steam train ride is operating today for Guests.
Closed due to the construction progress of the new Tomorrowland coaster TRON: Lightcycle Power Run, the Walt Disney World Railroad’s reopening date remained a mystery as it appeared to be out of commission through mid-February just last week. Yesterday, we reported that the train was open for a Cast Member preview and that it would reopen to Guests “this holiday season,” but the date remained a mystery until now.

It seems that Disney still has some magical holiday surprises up its sleeves, after all.
Coming with the railroad’s return is a brand-new voice-over narration from a new conductor that Disney appears to suggest is from the first new Park-original character to be introduced at Disney World in years, as well as the addition of the Tron coaster, which gives Guests a unique glimpse at the upcoming attraction. Walt Disney World Resort describes its railroad as the following:
