The fate of an attraction that many have debated for a while now appears to have been finally revealed, and unfortunately, it’s not good news.

The Walt Disney World Resort is renowned for being a top destination for a Disney vacation. The Disney Resort is home to multiple Theme Parks that offer Guests a variety of family-friendly entertainment. Magic Kingdom Park is home to the famous Cinderella Castle, EPCOT has the beloved Spaceship Earth, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to “Fantasmic!” the show.

However, one show appears to have shut for good, although perhaps with this particular attraction, Disney Fanatics might have seen it coming. In November of last year, we at Disney Fanatic reported on this attraction in Disney’s Hollywood Studios being infested with mold, something that it appeared Disney was “hiding.”

Now, some news has come to light, as first reported by Inside the Magic, that leads us to believe that the attraction is now permanently closed.

The Voyage of the Little Mermaid, as many Disney fans know, was a 17-minute musical performance and reflected the colorful and vibrant aesthetic and feel of the movie it’s based on. Unfortunately, it has now come to light that puppets from the show were sold, and the attraction has been overrun by mold.

Between both of these realities, it seems apparent that the show has been closed permanently, disappointing many fans who once considered this show a Walt Disney World staple.

It is a shame that the attraction has been shut down, and perhaps some might have been hopeful that it was, in fact, a rumor. Recently, we’ve seen many floating around; think about how Disney’s Animal Kingdom was said to close, Space Mountain was rumored to be permanently switched to a lights-on attraction, and more.
