Attention Disney Fans: Park Closure at Walt Disney World Announced!

blizzard beach closing

Any Disney Fanatic is well aware that closures are (an admittedly sad) part of the Disney experience. In order to keep the Disney Parks running, safe and secure for Guests and to ensure the optimal Guest experience for everyone who frequents the Parks. We’re all used to the rides and attractions closing for refurbishment—for example, Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park had been closed for refurbishment for a while and recently reopened—surprising Guests—ahead of its initially announced reopening date. Now, Disney announced that Disney Water Park, Blizzard Beach, will be closing very soon.

The on-again, off-again Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon saga continues. Disney just announced today that the Disney Water Park Typhoon Lagoon would be reopening this March, finally giving us the date for the reopening.

However, just as one reopens, another closes again; while Disney announced fans would be able to enjoy Typhoon Lagoon with all its beloved offerings again, they also shared that that March 18, 2023, would be the last day fans would be able to enjoy Disney’s Blizzard Beach for a while, with the water park closing soon after.

That’s right. Disney’s Blizzard Beach will be closing for refurbishment beginning March 19, 2023, the same day Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon reopens. Fans will have to wait a while to enjoy attractions like Summit Plummet, Tike’s Peak, and Runoff Rapids again. “Frosty fun for the whole family” will have to be put on hold.

Blizzard Beach Closing

While it’s undoubtedly not the happiest news that Guests will no longer be able to enjoy Blizzard Beach for a while, they can take heart in the fact that it appears Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will be open for a long time, considering its After Hours offerings in May of this year. So while it is sad that Guests can’t enjoy a meal at Lottawatta Lodge or a drink at the Polar Pub, at least Castaway Creek, Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, and the famous Dole Whip are back on the menu!
