The rumor mill has been strong in the world of Disney lately. Starting with the possible removal of Cinderella Castle last year and the closure of Disney’s Animal Kingdom earlier this year, to Space Mountain becoming a “light-on” attraction, and the most ludicrous of them all, Mickey Mouse being replaced as Disney’s mascot, there have been many stories going around. One particular attraction has been swimming in rumors of a permanent closure for months now, but Disney finally (and decisively) put it to rest, surprising fans: Kali River Rapids has reopened prior to Disney’s initially announced reopening date.
Kali River Rapids is an Animal Kingdom Theme Park staple. It’s a “definitely-get-wet” ride, with Guests having the opportunity to “Skim across an erupting geyser, drift below a canopy of lush vegetation and be whisked along fast-moving rapids.”
However, the beloved attraction has been subject to rumors of closure since last year. Even after Disney announced its reopening date, the ride was still hotly debated as one that could see its permanent end soon. However, those rumors have no place in the Disney verse.
Kali River Rapids, initially set to reopen on March 17, 2023, reopened earlier, surprising many fans and crushing the embers on the last remaining rumors.
It’s currently debated whether the attraction opened yesterday, February 26, as some fans contested or today, February 27. However, what can be said for certain is Guests are once again able to enjoy the “Graze gushing waterfalls and bedrock amid the raging current.”
It’s certainly an announcement that finds itself received by a welcoming crowd considering how popular this attraction can be. It appears that Disney Fanatics can rest easy knowing that Kali River Rapids is definitely not going anywhere.
