Disneyland Resort’s Top Boozy Beverages!

When Walt Disney opened Disneyland Park in 1955, he had some big dreams and even bigger rules. One of his biggest rules was that guests would not be able to buy alcohol in the parks. Disneyland was a place where children and their parents could have a wonderful time together with no one feeling left out. And he only wanted the right kind of families to visit his park.

That is why he was insistent on no alcohol — he believed that it would attract the wrong kind of people.

Of course, the no-alcohol rule went out the window with the opening of EPCOT at the Walt Disney World Resort in 1982. Now, there isn’t a Disney theme park where guests of drinking age can’t enjoy an adult beverage.

Disneyland Resort did not sell alcohol to regular guests until the opening of Disney California Adventure Park in 2001, although Club 33 members could buy alcohol at the previous restaurant. Now, enjoying a drink at Disneyland has become something a lot of guests look forward to, and there always seem to be specialty cocktails available for one celebration or another.

Let’s take a look at some of the best drinks you can enjoy at The Happiest Place on Earth!

Fuzzy Tauntaun – Oga’s Cantina

In 2019, a brand-new land opened in Disneyland Park: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This land transports visitors to a galaxy far, far away, and into the heart of the films they love so much. Guests can pilot the Millennium Falcon, drink the famous blue milk, and even confront Stormtroopers and Kylo Ren.

When Galaxy’s Edge opened, it brought with it the first place in Disneyland — other than the private Club 33 — where guests could buy alcohol in the theme park — Oga’s Cantina. Oga’s Cantina’s resident DJ, DJ Rex, plays the hottest songs in the galaxy while guests enjoy one-of-a-kind drinks they can’t get anywhere else.

If there is one drink we would recommend above all others, it is the Fuzzy Tauntaun. The Fuzzy Tauntaun is not only delicious, but it is topped with the “Buzz Button Tingling” Foam, which literally leaves your lips tingling.

R&D Martini – Pym Tasting Lab

Off the bat, I will say that I am not a big coffee drinker, especially if that coffee is uber-strong espresso. However, when that coffee tastes like dessert, then count me in!

The R&D Martini from Pym Tasting Lab in Avengers Campus will give you that caffeine kick you need to get through a long day at Disney, along with the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess.

This delicious cocktail is a traditional espresso martini — made with espresso, vodka, and coffee liqueur. It is then combined with cereal-infused milk, and topped with chocolate-covered espresso beans and cereal crumbles.

You can enjoy this tasting beverage while meeting some of your favorite superheroes and taking in a performance or two. Avengers Campus is a really fun area, and Pym Tasting Lab is a must-do experience.

5… 4… 3… 2… 1 – Magic Key Terrace

If you love a sweet and fruit cocktail, then this drink is for you. However, there is a caveat — you can only get the 5… 4… 3… 2…. 1 at the Magic Key Terrace in Disney California Adventure Park. Reservations to dine there can only be made by Magic Key Holders, but they can bring whoever they want.

There are several great cocktails on the menu, and several of them are themed after Disney attractions, including the 5… 4… 3… 2… 1, which gets its name from the California Screamin’ Roller Coaster, now the IncrediCoaster.

The 5… 4… 3… 2… 1 is made with Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Bols Blue Curaçao, Coconut-Pineapple Cream, and fresh lime juice. On top of tasting absolutely delicious, it is also gorgeous and brings a level of fun to your meal.

Dole Whip Cocktail – Lamplight Lounge

There are so many great drink options at The Happiest Place on Earth, but Disney keeps some of them hidden. These are called secret menu items, and they are definitely worth asking about.

One of Disney’s most iconic and popular snacks is the DOLE Whip, which is a pineapple soft-serve ice cream. Whether you prefer the DOLE Whip or the DOLE Whip Float (pineapple soft-serve with pineapple juice), you’ll definitely want to head to the Lamplight Lounge and get the DOLE Whip Cocktail!

The DOLE Whip Cocktail is sweet and creamy — the perfect Disney drink. It is made with Absolut Citron, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, whipped cream, and pineapple juice. The DOLE Whip Cocktail is also available as a shot, but beware — it’s a large shot that is more like two shots in one glass.

The Black Pearl – Lamplight Lounge

Like the Dole Whip Cocktail, this drink is a secret menu item, but it’s one that you’ll definitely want to try. While Captain Jack Sparrow might not like us blowing holes in his ship, he will appreciate this drink because it contains his favorite libation, rum!

The Black Pearl is a fun Disney twist on a Long Island Iced Tea, so these drinks can sneak up on you if you aren’t careful. The Black Pearl contains vodka, gin, and light rum with a little bit of Chambord (a raspberry-flavored liqueur). It is then mixed with a little bit of sweet and sour mix and topped with Sprite, giving it the right amount of sweetness.

These are just a small sampling of the incredible drinks available at the Disneyland Resort, and we can’t recommend them enough. Some are sweet, some are strong, and some make your lips tingle. No matter what kind of drinks you like, you are sure to find something at The Happiest Place on Earth that will make your vacation memorable!
