A drunk man was beaten up by his wife at Disney World after he made fun of another Disney Park guest with Down’s Syndrome.
One key aspect of enjoying a Walt Disney World vacation is remembering that it’s a family-friendly destination. Disney has certain codes of conduct that allow the company to create a certain atmosphere and environment, allowing guests from all over the world and different cultures to enjoy their time at the Disney Parks.
Moreover, it allows visitors to enjoy the wholly immersive experience that Disney intends to provide to all of its fans. The enchanting lands like Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park and attractions like Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom Park only add to this experience.
But, not all guests adhere to the Walt Disney World Resort codes of conduct. In fact, many times, guests choose to disrupt the environment at the Disney Parks, be that because they’re a “Karen” or because they’re intoxicated in some way, shape, or form.
Most recently, a drunk Florida man was arrested after he sparked a fight with four other guests at a Disney World bar. As reported earlier this month, “Brent George was arrested and charged with four counts of battery after the incident that unfolded at Belle Vue Lounge, a bar inside Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, on Jan. 25.”
According to his arrest report, George sparked this fight after he made fun of another Disney World guest who had Down’s Syndrome.
Brent George, 61, is said to have downed three shots of bourbon along with a beer and then reportedly walked up to a table wherein a woman with Down’s Syndrome was seated and began making fun of her.
The woman’s mother confronted George, demanding to know if he was making fun of her daughter, and George is said to have then shoved her and slapped another female guest who tried to intervene.
The situation then escalated even further when the husband of the woman who was slapped became involved, and George punched him in the neck.
The affidavit also added that an unnamed bystander removed George from the scene. George was then medically examined before he was taken to Orange County Jail after being cleared.
As of the publishing of this article, no further developments have been reported on Brent George.
This said, from the perspective of the Disney Parks, this kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable. Not only does being this level of intoxicated at a Disney Resort go against founder Walt Disney’s vision for the parks, but it also makes it an unfortunate Disney Park experience for other guests.
Keeping with the codes of conduct at Disney not only allows all guests to enjoy their time at Disney, but it also keeps guests safe from facing consequences like permanent bans.
It’s important to remember that Disney is for anyone and everyone and maintaining that environment is paramount to keeping the Disney magic alive at the parks.
