EPCOT’s Forgotten Restaurant Faces Another Sad Goodbye

For a brief moment, Restaurant Marrakesh looked like it might be coming back to life. This summer, it played host to a Passholder-exclusive lounge—offering water, snacks, and a much-needed air-conditioned retreat in the Morocco Pavilion at EPCOT.

But that small revival is already coming to an end. Disney has confirmed the lounge will close on July 13, and the space will once again be left without purpose or plans.

Once a full-service restaurant known for its North African dishes and lively performances, Restaurant Marrakesh has been largely dormant since 2020. While many other locations bounced back post-pandemic, this one has lagged behind, only stepping into the spotlight occasionally as a lounge or event venue.

The temporary lounge was part of Disney’s V.I.Passholder Summer Days, which also included perks like collectible buttons, photo backdrops, and some extra discounts. And while it wasn’t a full restaurant revival, it gave fans hope that the space might see consistent use again.

Now, that hope seems short-lived. No announcements have been made about what will come next. Will Marrakesh be revived as a restaurant? Turned into a new attraction? Or will it just sit empty, as it has for much of the last few years?

The lack of updates has been frustrating for long-time EPCOT lovers. In a park known for celebrating global culture, it feels odd that one of its most immersive dining spots has been left to collect dust.

As for Annual Passholders, this also marks the wind-down of several summer perks. The special Dopey meet-and-greet in Germany is going away, and that generous 40% off dining deal ends later this month.

Whether Marrakesh is truly forgotten or just caught in Disney’s long-term planning limbo, one thing is clear: EPCOT fans are ready for this space to stop being a question mark and start being something meaningful again.
