Markers of Expensive Chapek-Era Continue to Disappear, Disney World Offers Select Discounts

Walt Disney World is known to be expensive, especially so in recent years. During former Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s tenure, the Mouse House saw constant price rises that didn’t always feel justified. However, since Disney CEO Bob Iger returned to helm the Walt Disney Company, fans have started seeing the return of certain complimentary features—free parking, selected free Photopass services, and more.

Most recently, as many Disney Fanatics would want to know, more of the sentiment of “paying a lot to get back very little” has been leaving the Parks. Some fans recently expressed one notable difference between Iger’s and Chapek’s style of running Disney.

They shared, “It’s sad…Iger always penny pinched, but gave us good stuff. I hope it improves in the coming months. Chapek’s penny pinching sucked because everything offered was also subpar.”

Perhaps in a show of goodwill, or perhaps to soothe irate customers, Disney has certainly been reminding fans of why they fell in love with the Disney magic in the first place, and that has included the most recent discounts announced for EPCOT merchandise.

One Guest, Sarah Gilliland, took to the social media platform to share that, at present, EPCOT 40th merchandise is 40% off. If Guests are either part of the Disney Vacation Club or are Annual Passholders, they can get an additional discount on top of that.

This is, as many would agree, well-received news considering how pricey the Parks can be and presently are.

It’s been months now since Bob Chapek was ousted from his position, and it seems the clean-up from the mess the Walt Disney Company was in, is only getting started. What began with a small but notable reorganization of the company has turned into 7000-person layoffs beginning this week.

While only time will tell what these changes will mean for the Mouse House, here’s hoping there are lighter and better times ahead.
