Famous Mickey Mouse Club Alum Featured on the ‘Barbie’ Movie Soundtrack

Pegged as the movie of the summer, there’s a lot of buzz in Barbie Land.

Barbie fans haven’t been this excited about a real-life feature film since Tyra Banks and Linsday Lohan starred in Disney’s Life-Size in 2000. With Margot Robbie stepping (without bending) into the shoes of America’s favorite doll, the upcoming film has already generated media attention.

While classic Barbie quips will be delivered by star-powered cast members like Will Ferrell in Greta Gerwig’s new film, news of stars featured on the soundtrack makes fans want to skip to summer.

Warner Bros. officially released the chart-topping lineup, including Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, Charli XCX, Khalid, Dominic Fike, and more. With just the first wave of artists announced for the dreamy soundtrack executive produced by Mark Ronson, one former Disney star stood out from the rest: Ryan Gosling.

The New Ken’s Former Chops

The toned-and-tan man behind none other than Ken; Gosling isn’t the first name you think of next to Nicki Minaj—a bonafide Barbie girl—and Lizzo. Although he’s better known for acting chops in films like The Notebook, Crazy, Stupid Love, and First Man, Gosling’s musical appearances in flicks like La La Land and Lars and the Real Girl certify his vocal cred.

Before Gosling ever appeared in a box office film, he graced the small screen as a member of the Mickey Mouse Club. A rigorous audition sequence testing acting, dancing, and singing skills alongside Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake, the Club was a prestigious membership.

With a Mousketeer background and Oscar-worthy film performances, Gosling told the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon 2023 that he still needed to work on his “Kenergy.” He said:

I only knew Ken from afar. I didn’t know Ken from within and if I’m being really honest, I doubted my Kenergy. I didn’t see it, but Margot and Greta, they conjured this out of me somehow.

Fans will witness Gosling’s Kenergy in action alongside stars Margot Robbie, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, and Will Ferrell when the Barbie movie and album debut on July 21.
