Fans Sign Petitions For Johnny Depp’s Return as Captain Jack Sparrow

In the midst of the defamation trial between former Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp and Aquaman actress Amber Heard, Pirates fans and Captain Jack Sparrow fans have been campaigning for Depp’s return to his famous role as Captain Jack Sparrow.

During the defamation trial (which has been accompanied by Depp’s fans’ use of the hashtag “Justice for Johnny Depp”), Johnny Depp is purportedly alleging that Amber Heard’s op-ed in the Washington Post and related accusations of domestic abuse caused Disney to fire him from the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

Even though Johnny Depp himself said during the trial that he wouldn’t return to his role of Captain Jack Sparrow if Disney asked him to, not even for $300 million, fans are still signing petitions in hopes that he and Disney might somehow make Sparrow come back. 

The first petition urging Disney and Depp to reunite was called Justice for Johnny Depp, inspiring the hashtag that has recently been trending during the trial. This petition has over 596,000 signatures.

A second petition has now gained traction; this second petition is on Change.org, and its headline is “We want JOHNNY DEPP back as CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW”. The petition has over 815,000 signatures.

There is also a petition circulating that involves trying to get Amber Heard fired from the upcoming movie Aquaman 2.
