Disneyland Blocks off Fantasyland Area at California Park

Construction walls have been a fixture near Edelweiss Snacks in Fantasyland at Disneyland Park for the better part of a month. After weeks of no answers, Southern California Disney Park guests are finally getting a look at what's actually being built behind them.

A Construction Story That Keeps Growing

This marks the third time in less than a year that Edelweiss Snacks has been caught up in construction activity. Scaffolding and scrim were briefly erected around the Fantasyland kiosk during the summer of 2025. A second round followed in February 2026, when the Quick-Service dining location officially closed for refurbishment before reopening on March 5 with minimal visible changes and an identical menu.

A third wave of construction walls appeared around the building at the end of March, with Edelweiss Snacks staying open to serve Turkey Legs, Cheesy Garlic Pretzel Bread, and its usual lineup throughout. Then on April 6, the barriers expanded to cut off Fantasia Gardens — the outdoor seating area beside the kiosk that has occupied the former Motor Boat Cruise dock since the ride closed in 1993. The loss of that seating has pushed pedestrian congestion onto nearby Fantasyland walkways, leaving guests with noticeably fewer places to sit in the area.

Disneyland Resort has not said a word about any of it.

On April 28, WDWNT shared a photo that finally reveals some of what's happening on the other side of the barriers. A new wooden structure is going up near Edelweiss Snacks, featuring dark wood, curved archways, and steeply pitched rooflines consistent with the themed architecture found throughout Fantasyland. The building appears to be open-air.

Disneyland Resort has not confirmed what it's building, but the design and location point to a new covered seating area. No completion date has been shared.

Edelweiss Snacks remains open and accessible to Disneyland Park guests while work continues around it.
