Earlier this morning, two of Disney’s flagship attractions at the Central Florida Disney resort temporarily closed, presumably for maintenance.
Disney Park closures—whether temporary or permanent—are part and parcel of the Disney experience. Whether it’s for a few hours due to a Disney Park ride breakdown, the need for quick fixes and maintenance, a longer refurbishment and TLC, or the occasional permanent closure (like with Splash Mountain), fans know to expect that theme park attractions will be unavailable periodically.
Even the most iconic attractions like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Jungle Cruise go through these periods of maintenance.

This morning, two flagship attractions of Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park and EPCOT were closed at the same time without an explanation.
Tower of Terror and Spaceship Earth Close Temporarily
Earlier this morning, as seen on the Walt Disney World app, both The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Spaceship Earth—two attractions that are so iconic they literally are the symbols of their respective parks—were both down and listed as “Temporarily Closed.”
While no explanation was provided as to why this was the case, it’s a reasonable enough assumption that there might have been some quick need for maintenance that needed the rides to be temporarily unavailable to guests at the parks.
Closures can be quite frustrating to deal with while at the parks, especially when it’s a temporary closure like this one that cannot be accounted for. This said, it’s important to remember that Disney prioritizes the safety and security of guests over all else, and while these closures can be an inconvenience, they are more often than not the right call.
At the time of publishing, as seen in the photo above, while the Tower of Terror is back in business for guests to enjoy, Spaceship Earth is still listed as temporarily closed. In fact, it’s even listed as having an 80-minute wait time.
At present, no time has been given for when the attraction will be online again.
