A recent Mainstreet Research survey conducted by Florida Atlantic University has unveiled intriguing results regarding the ongoing feud between Governor Ron DeSantis and the Walt Disney Company. While the dispute originally started around Disney’s opposition to a controversial education law, the survey indicates that DeSantis has garnered greater support from Florida residents than the iconic company. The findings shed light on the divided opinions within the Sunshine State, unveiling a political divide that aligns with party affiliations.

DeSantis Feud With Disney

The ongoing feud between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the Walt Disney Company has become a highly publicized and debated topic. The initial spark for this conflict was Governor DeSantis’ contempt of former Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s criticism on the Parental Rights in Education legislation (Also known as the “Don’t Say Gay” Law). Since then, the situation has escalated rapidly, leading to significant actions by Governor DeSantis, such as restructuring the Reedy Creek Improvement District board. This move involved the appointment of new individuals chosen by the governor himself. As a result, the conflict has reached a critical point, with both parties involved filing lawsuits and counterclaims in Federal Court, further intensifying the legal battle.

Florida Prefers DeSantis to Disney

In light of these developments, a recent Mainstreet Research survey conducted by Florida Atlantic University has provided insights into the sentiment of Floridians towards the DeSantis-Disney feud. The poll from June 27 to July 1 reveals that 47.8% of respondents either somewhat or strongly support Governor DeSantis in the dispute. Surprisingly, 42.8% of Floridians supported Disney, while 9.4% either had no opinion or were unaware of the ongoing conflict.

Digging deeper into the survey results, it becomes evident that party affiliations play a crucial role in shaping opinions. Among Republicans, Governor DeSantis holds a commanding lead over Disney, with 80.8% showing support for the governor compared to a mere 12.5% supporting the company. Conversely, among Democrats, Disney enjoys a substantial advantage, with 75.8% favoring the entertainment giant compared to 14.9% backing DeSantis. The gap is narrower among independent voters, with 42.2% supporting DeSantis and 41.8% supporting Disney, giving the governor a slight edge.

DeSantis’ Florida

This roller coaster has continued for a long time, though the Supreme Court has hinted that DeSantis has no legal leg to stand on. However, this has not stopped a majority of Floridians from siding with the governor. It is a shocking revelation as the Walt Disney World theme park in Central Florida has been an iconic tourist destination for over fifty years. It is responsible for much of the Sunshine State’s success. However, many seem to believe it has failed to adapt to DeSantis’ Florida.

The survey results highlight the deep divisions among Floridians regarding the feud between Governor Ron DeSantis and Disney. With support for both sides split along party lines, the ongoing legal battle between the state and the entertainment giant promises to be a closely watched affair, with potential implications reaching far beyond the confines of Florida.
