It’s the end of an era with Disney magic for one airline! WestJet has officially discontinued its Disney-themed airplanes.

To be associated with Disney is to enjoy a certain quality of brand. For the longest time, the reputation of the Mouse House has been pristine and well-regarded. For this reason, collaborations with Disney have always been something that many aspire to.

However, per recent news, one of these collaborations is ending.

WestJet Discontinuing Disney-Themed Plane Designs

As reported by CTVNewsdue to a “natural transition” in the agreement between Disney Parks and Resorts and WestJet, the Disney-branded livery will be retired later this year.

WestJet emailed in a statement, “In this case, the co-branded liveries will be updated following a natural transition in our contract agreements with Disney Parks & Resorts,” WestJet wrote on Friday.

WestJet’s fleet presently features the Disney Magic Plane, which has “a magical Mickey Mouse design, featuring his iconic outfit from the 1940 animated movie Fantasia,” and The Disney Frozen-themed plane featuring Elsa, Anna, and Olaf.

The Disney Magic plane has been taking guests to Central Florida (specifically to Walt Disney World) for almost ten years now, with its inaugural flight taking off in 2013.

So, for any guests who might want to have a last chance to go to the Disney Resort on these Disney planes, the time to do that is now!

How many planes did Walt Disney have?

Of course, as seasoned fans would know, the term “Disney planes” can also recall the planes that Walt Disney himself once owned. The company plane was a point of incredible pride for the Disney founder, and three aircrafts were used for it over the course of his career.

A fun tidbit of trivia is that Disney pilots would sometimes use, “Two, three, four, metro metro,” as their initial air traffic call-ups. But, they also began using, “Two, three, four, Mickey Mouse,” which is an improper FAA communication.

However, because of this, FAA en-route controllers began calling the Disney plane the “Mickey Mouse.”

Have you ever taken a flight on a Disney plane? Are you going to take a last flight on one of them with WestJet? Let us know!
