A video online showed a guest smoking at the Southern California Disney Resort, with security taking swift action on noticing the woman.
In addition to being beloved for its family-friendly atmosphere, every Disney Park is renowned for being a haven where families can immerse themselves in the magic of Disney. It is widely agreed upon as the ultimate destination to indulge in all things Disney alongside your loved ones.
Nevertheless, despite the constant joy and enchantment in the air at a Disney Resort, there are instances when certain guests neglect the codes of conduct and decorum and behave in ways that are absolutely unbecoming of a Disney theme park. Most recently, a guest was caught smoking at the Disneyland Resort, and fans (and the security) were unimpressed.
In a video first posted to TikTok and then shared online on Reddit, we see a woman leaving the park at closing, holding a lit cigarette between her fingers.
At a point within the video, we see security personnel come up to the woman and call her out on her behavior, however, it does seem like that is as far as the action taken against her smoking goes.
Fans in the comments were thoroughly unimpressed with the guest, with many going so far as to make personal attacks about the woman.
One wrote, “🤦🏼♂️ it’s all over the place. Signs, no smoking. When you’re riding the tram to the park they mention it on the speaker. You still do it 🤦🏼♂️.”
Another added, “It is a harsh reminder of the real world when people can’t go to Disneyland of all places without a nicotine hit. Very very common to see vape clouds, actual cigarettes not so common.”
A third person commented, making a personal attack, “Well just by looking at her, she don’t give a f about herself or others around her.”
One important thing to note is that smoking is a strict no-no at the Disneyland Resort. While some guests might be old enough to remember a time when there was a designated smoking area at the Disney Park, that time is long gone, and Disney strictly requires guests to stay away from these substances while at the parks.
This said, clearly, there are some who choose to indulge in the habit even without designated smoking areas.
However, not all Disney theme parks are able to enforce this rule. For example, at Disneyland Paris, as some guests noted, it’s more common to see park-goers smoking in public.
A fan noted, “Wait until you go to Disneyland Paris, people do it literally everywhere in the park. The rules must be different there because when I went last month I couldn’t even count how many times I walked by someone that was smoking.”
As some would know, the reason for this is as another guest explained, “Yeah the laws in France are such that they can’t really enforce smoking rules outdoors. That and it’s so ingrained in the culture there.”
