A Disney World guest’s vacation came under jeopardy recently when a flare-up of their old injury threatened to end the holiday early.
Going to the Walt Disney World Resort is universally agreed upon to be one of the best ways to enjoy the Disney experience. With myriad rides and attractions, the Central Florida Disney resort is a highly sought-after vacation. From rides and attractions like Jungle Cruise and Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom Park to splashing around at either of its two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach), there’s a lot to enjoy at Disney World.
Recently, however, one guest reported that an old injury flaring up threatened their Disney World vacation.

Injury Seems to Jeopardize Guest’s Disney Vacation
A guest explained that after an incredible day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park, the flare-up of a month-old injury threatened their Disney World vacation.
The guest took to Reddit to share, “About a month ago, I tweaked my knee (sounds like runner’s knee) starting a new walking/jogging routine. No severe pain, but enough to make me rethink it. I decided to do a different kind of exercise. Well after 27 THOUSAND steps today, my knee pain is horrendous.”
The guest also further explained that they were due to go to EPCOT the next day. They continued, “I don’t know how I can walk without a limp or without making it even worse. Epcot is mostly the reason we came down here. I’m so upset! What can I do?” The upset guest also asked fellow fans if it was possible to use the tickets at a later date if it came to that.

Many fans were very sympathetic to the guest’s predicament, specifically calling attention to the potential severity of the knee injury.
One fan commented, “As someone who works in Ortho, a ‘tweaked knee’ can very well be a meniscal tear. Go to Walgreens, cvs, etc and get yourself a hinged knee brace. When you get home, follow up with an Ortho.” They also gave them instructions for proper painkillers.
Another fan seconded this comment, “This. Knee pain isn’t normal and it’s a myth that running is bad for your knees (aka don’t be like ‘oh it’s normal that I have knee pain because I’m running’). Knee brace, ice, ibuprofen, see a doctor when you get home.”

Other fans also recommended that the guest could rent a scooter to be able to enjoy their time at Disney World and enjoy EPCOT.
One shared a personal anecdote of renting a scooter, writing, “I did that when I pinched a nerve in my foot on my flight to [Disney World]. Rented a scooter until it was bearable to walk. Ended up going to the doctor after got home. It’s okay to admit that you’ve overdone it and need an aid for a day to still enjoy. Especially [EPCOT]!”
Another added, “Get to the park at open and rent a scooter. My mom did this and it worked out great. If you’re driving make sure you tell the parking attendant you need medical overflow, it’s close to handicap and there are wheelchairs you can use to and from the gate, although you may have to ask for one if there are none sitting there.”

In addition to this, many also shared how Disney’s customer service was “the best” and that if the OP emailed or called customer relations, they would let them extend the tickets. It’s important to note that this is anecdotal information from guests, and is not officially from a cast member or Disney representative, however, given Disney’s propensity for making magic, is well within the realm of possibility.
At the time of writing this article, the guest had not yet given an update on how their predicament turned out. Here’s hoping the OP managed to salvage their Disney World trip!
