Guests are at it again by scattering their loved ones’ ashes at the Central Florida Disney Park, inadvertently disrespecting them.
Some guests take the phrase “devoted to Disney in life and death” to a whole new level. There is certainly a lot to love at any Disney Park, from the myriad rides and attractions on offer (think Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad) to the amazing, immersive lands like Pandora in Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.
However, no matter how much you love a Disney theme park, nothing gives guests leave to scatter their loved ones’ ashes at the Central Florida Disney Resort.
It’s certainly understandable that an avid Disney fan might want to be laid to rest at their favorite Disney attraction. However, the reality, as confirmed by a Disney cast member, is that many end up inadvertently disrespecting their loved ones by doing this.
As the cast member explained:
“I know it’s some people’s dying wish to be laid to rest on there favourite attractions but the fact of the matter is they are ravished and dragged by the vehicles and ultimately cleaned and thrown out with the trash to end up who knows where. I feel it’s better to pay more respects to loved ones.”
The cast member was responding to a specific recent incident of a guest scattering their relative’s ashes on Rise of the Resistance at the Southern California Disney Resort.
However, this is not a unique instance of this behavior.

Many cast members have repeatedly shared that it’s very common for guests to scatter their loved ones’ cremated ashes in the Haunted Mansion attraction.
In fact, it’s widespread enough that a Disney spokesperson even spoke to The Wall Street Journal about this: “This type of behavior is strictly prohibited and unlawful. Guests who attempt to do so will be escorted off property.”
“The Haunted Mansion probably has so much human ashes in it that it’s not even funny,” said a Disney cast member.
Many fans have also commented that this is a dangerous thing to do for a variety of reasons. One fan wrote, “Maybe it’s because I’m asthmatic but besides the disrespect of vehicles rolling over your loved ones remains…that dust flies around & people will breathe it in. That can’t be good.”
It is essential to emphasize that the act of scattering ashes at the Disney Parks is strictly prohibited by both Disney regulations and the local authorities.
The enforcement of these rules underscores the importance of adhering to the guidelines in place to preserve the sanctity of the magical experience that Disney aims to provide for all its guests.
It serves as a reminder that while Disney World holds a special place in many hearts, it is crucial to respect the rules and regulations set forth to maintain the integrity and spirit of the park for all who visit.
While it might feel emotionally symbolic to allow your deceased loved one to rest at a Disney Park, the treatment of their ashes after you scatter them, the danger they pose to fellow guests, and the attraction itself make it a less-than-ideal way to treat your loved one.
