While the classic Disney ride “Haunted Mansion” is beloved by fans, some recent photos of the attraction leave us wondering if it might soon suffer a similar fate to “it’s a small world.”
Southern California is home to one of the most renowned Theme Parks in the world, the Disneyland Resort. The Disney Resort is a prime destination, and fans flock to it to get their dose of the Disney experience. Whichever Disney Park you pick — Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure — each Disney Theme Park in Anaheim is loved and visited by millions each year.
Every year, the “Haunted Mansion” is taken over for the holidays and gets a revamp, turning into “Haunted Mansion Holiday,” a Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) overlay. It’s a fan-favorite affair, and has been known to reach three-hour wait times during the Holiday season.
And while Disneyland’s “Haunted Mansion” is usually home to 999 Happy Haunts, one Guest this week noticed that number had decreased. Disney Guest and Reddit user u/Development-Fiesty shared a photo revealing a missing animatronic:
The empty coffin is usually home to a mummy animatronic, as devoted “Haunted Mansion” fans would know.
While the image is admittedly blurry, the empty space in the coffin is still clearly visible right below the bright red ribbon. Other Disney Parks fans confirmed that the animatronic is missing.
The missing animatronic is likely undergoing maintenance for the moment, which is why it’s missing. However, one can’t help but recall how “it’s a small world” had one or two missing animatronics until Guests reported multiple were missing during their visit and questioned how the attraction was faring. Here’s hoping “Haunted Mansion” doesn’t face the same fate!
“Haunted Mansion Holiday” will close on January 8, 2023, for its transformation back to the Haunted Mansion.
We at Disney Fanatic will continue to report on all Disney news as it comes to light.
