Iconic EPCOT Attraction Remains Closed Indefinitely Through 2023

American Adventure EPCOT

While there has been a lot of progress with EPCOT attractions this last half year, with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opening a standby line and the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic rewind, it appears that one iconic attraction will remain closed indefinitely through the new year.

The American Adventure at the host pavilion around World Showcase Lagoon has been closed since September 19, 2022, and will remain closed for several more months at least.

According to the Disney World website, the stage show starring Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain that takes Disney World Guests through moments of U.S. History will remain closed through at least Mid-February.

It is unclear when this attraction will reopen, as well as what changes we can expect to see made by Walt Disney Imagineering to the show, if any. Will it be a simple technological evolution, or will potentially controversy-sparking changes be added to show elements and even plot points? Only time will tell at this point.

It should be noted, though, that the famous Voices of Liberty Choir can still be heard inside the American Adventure Rotunda.

The Walt Disney World Resort describes The American Adventure on its website as the following:

An Epic Journey

In this dramatic production featuring 35 Audio-Animatronics figures, digital rear-projection images on a 72-foot screen and stirring patriotic songs, you’ll watch firsthand as America’s story unfolds.

Take your seat in a stately Colonial theater and meet Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain—your guides on this trip through time.

Witness landmark events like landing of the Mayflower, the Boston Tea Party, the winter at Valley Forge, the penning of the Declaration of Independence, the Civil War and the Great Depression.

You’ll even encounter luminaries like Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass, Thomas Jefferson, Chief Joseph and Teddy Roosevelt, among others.
