Disney CEO Bob Iger finds himself in a bit of a predicament. He is fighting for his legacy and the future of the Walt Disney Company against a proxy battle from activist investor Nelson Peltz.

And to win, Bob Iger is pullout out all the stops. He got high-profile endorsements from Roy and Walt Disney’s grandchildren, former CEO Michael Eisner, and George Lucas. And behind the scenes, Iger has been working diligently to get every last vote, and reports say he’s been giving away the house to do it.

But Bob (may I call you Bob? Too late), there is also one overlooked constituency that you have yet to look into, and I’ve got a simple plan for you to win over all of them.

Tens of thousands of Disney fans own a piece of the company, not to make money but because they believe in the Walt Disney Company. We all own stock, but not enough to register on your radar.

But collectively, we own enough Disney stock to make a difference in your fight, and I’m here to make you an offer to buy our votes.

Want those thousands of votes? Bring back the old fast pass system at Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort. Wait…wait, hear me out. This is a win-win for you.

Disney fans everywhere find the Disney Genie Plus Lightning Lane system to be the bane of our existence. We wake up at seven and maybe get the ride we want. And to top it off, we’ve got to pay for it.

If you ever walk around Disney World, you’ll see everyone on their phones. They’re simply trying to get their next Lightning Lane pass.

The old fast pass system, if you remember, would allow guests to book their attractions weeks in advance. So, when you woke up one day at the Walt Disney World Resort, you knew precisely what rides you had lined up. It took the stress out of the day. And if you want to keep a paid system for the newer rides, we can negotiate that, too.

And what do you get out of this deal? Our undying love and affection. Not enough? How about our votes in your proxy battle? You don’t get to be CEO without a strong desire to win. And this will get you a very public win.

Side bonus: the Disney Genie Plus Lightning Lane system was former CEO Bob Chapek’s idea, so you’d get to stick it to him, too. And don’t say that it doesn’t matter to you. You’ve basically erased everything Bob Chapek has ever touched at Disney.

So, what do you think, Bob? You get a big win, and we get our fast pass system back at every Disney Park.

(Slowly extends hand) Do we have a deal?

And perhaps next time, we can talk about bringing back the Magical Express again.

  1. Yes please bring back the Fastpass system that was great and easy to use. The transportation would be a plus also from the airport to the Disney park.

  2. No, the Genie+ system was invisioned by Iger and started before he handed over the reigns. Everything Chapek did was projects already in motion.
Iger knows that some of us Disney fans owns stock, but he also knows that aggregate amount is peanuts compared to the other blocks, including himself, that like the Genie+ system and the money it brings in, monetizing something that also now helps with attendance and cast member resourcing.

  3. Bring back the fast pass system. You are already paying a lot at Disney and having to pay to get on a ride is ridiculous. People spend so much time on their phones you don’t get to really experience Disney. I am for getting rid of the lightening passes.

  4. You have a lot of grammatical errors in this post. Also Disney does daily surveys of their guests’ experiences, the old fast pass system is an outdated idea and not even a thought on the executives minds anymore.

  5. Although I would love to see the FastPass system return, l would love even more for the return of “Tables in Wonderland “.

  6. Please bring back fast pass. The new system is so complicated I cannot use it. My granddaughter does it for me but I don’t want to have her tied to me all day. Charge extra for fast passes but make them available for those who need them
