Legal Expert Says Disney Is Investigating Ron DeSantis

Disney/DeSantis fight will break new legal ground

It seems like the battle between The Walt Disney Company and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is going to last until the end of times. It’s been more than a year, and things just keep getting worse. The trouble started in early 2022, when then-Disney CEO Bob Chapek spoke out against Florida’s controversial Parental Rights in Education bill — dubbed by critics as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. From there, things devolved into a contentious back-and-forth. Now, Disney no longer has the right to self-govern, and the Governor recently threatened to build a state prison or a new theme park next to The Most Magical Place on Earth.

DeSantis’ anger at Disney, at this point, seems to be because they outsmarted him. The state legislature and the Governor approved and passed legislation that included a clause that gave Disney power over the district formerly known as Reedy Creek. Disney would retain that control until it abandoned the area, or until 21 years after the death of the youngest living descendant of King Charles III.

The Central Florida Tourism Oversight Committee — the new board overseeing Reedy Creek — has said that they will sue Disney and the former board over the land deal. DeSantis also launched an investigation into the deal to see if anything “unethical” happened. The investigation turned up nothing.

The Florida governor has said that the state will continue to investigate Disney and will win every fight against the House of Mouse. However, DeSantis may not be the only one running an investigation.

Political journalist and investigator Scott Dworkin said that there is no doubt that Disney is also investigating Governor DeSantis.

DeSantis threatened to put a prison next to Disney World.

One can bet Disney/allies of Disney have private investigators looking into everything DeSantis has ever done. Into every dime he’s ever spent or received.

This is a fight DeSantis will lose.

I think Disney will cause his downfall, if Trump doesn’t beat them to it.

When things first between Disney and DeSantis, many were standing behind DeSantis. They believed that Disney should not get involved in politics. However, the back and forth between Florida’s largest private employer, and its controversial governor has worn many out. A large amount of Floridians now want the fight to end. Even fellow conservatives are attacking DeSantis for his fight against Mickey Mouse.

The governor has mentioned taxing hotels in the area and building toll roads leading to Disney. That would end up hurting the in-state residents who drive to Walt Disney World.

The Republican state legislature has now introduced new legislation that would undo the legislation they just approved a few months ago. The governor has said he will sign that new legislation into law once it is passed. However, legal experts have said that Disney will have the upper hand in the legal fight that will ensue should the new legislation pass.
