Disney World Confirms 4 Classic Perks Won’t Be Revived Under New Leadership

There was a time when planning a Walt Disney World vacation felt almost effortless. Yes, it was expensive, but Disney made up for it by offering perks that made the trip smoother and more enjoyable. Staying on property came with real advantages, and guests didn’t feel like they had to pay extra for every little convenience.

But that version of Disney World is fading fast.

In 2026, the resort has made it clear that some of its most famous perks are no longer part of the experience, and even with Josh D’Amaro taking over as CEO, there’s no real sign that these benefits will ever return.

For longtime fans, it’s a tough update to accept, because these perks were part of what made a Disney trip feel like a Disney trip.

Here are the four major perks that appear to be permanently gone.

Extra Magic Hours Is No Longer for Everyone

Extra Magic Hours used to be a major selling point for staying at a Disney Resort. Guests got access to the parks early or late on certain days, giving them time to enjoy attractions without the usual crowd levels.

This perk helped families get more done. It helped couples avoid peak wait times. It helped guests feel like they were getting something valuable for booking on property.

Now, Disney has shifted away from that idea.

Instead of offering Extra Magic Hours for all resort guests, Disney has leaned into Extended Evening Hours, which mainly benefits Deluxe Resort visitors. Regular resort guests still get early entry, but the broader perk that once applied to everyone is gone.

The message is clear: Disney is focusing more on rewarding higher-paying guests.

Free MagicBands Have Become a Thing of the Past

MagicBands were once a simple but brilliant part of Disney World vacations. They were functional, they were fun, and they felt like a complimentary gift that made staying on property even more appealing.

Guests loved customizing them, using them throughout their trip, and collecting them as souvenirs.

But now, MagicBands are no longer a free perk.

Instead, Disney has turned them into a product line. MagicBand+ has become heavily promoted, with new designs released constantly, and guests are expected to pay for them as part of the vacation experience.

With how successful MagicBands have become as merchandise, it’s hard to imagine Disney ever returning to the old system of giving them away.

Magical Express Isn’t Coming Back

Magical Express wasn’t just transportation. It was part of the vacation experience.

Guests arriving at Orlando International Airport could hop on a Disney bus and head straight to their resort without worrying about rental cars, parking fees, or rideshare confusion. It made the trip feel smooth and completely Disney-controlled.

When Disney ended Magical Express, it felt like the company was officially stepping away from the “we’ll handle everything” approach.

And despite the fact that fans still want it back, Disney has shown no interest in reviving it. Transportation is now the guest’s responsibility, and Disney seems perfectly fine with that.

FastPass+ Has Been Replaced by Paid Lightning Lane Options

FastPass+ was one of the biggest reasons Disney trips used to feel manageable. Guests could reserve attraction times and skip standby lines without paying extra. It gave families a plan. It gave vacations structure.

But now, FastPass+ is gone, and Lightning Lane is the replacement.

The problem is that Lightning Lane is no longer a free perk. Guests have to pay, and depending on the season, those costs can add up quickly.

Disney has effectively taken a free system and replaced it with a paid version, which makes it very unlikely that FastPass+ will ever return.

Disney Has Moved On, Even With New Leadership

Josh D’Amaro stepping in as CEO may have sparked hope among some fans, but the reality is that Disney has already built its current vacation model around these perks being gone.

Extra Magic Hours is limited. MagicBands are no longer complimentary. Magical Express is history. FastPass+ has been replaced by a paid system.

At this point, these perks don’t feel “paused.”

They feel permanently removed.

Brittni Ward

Brittni is a Disney and Universal fan; one of her favorite things at both parks is collecting popcorn buckets. While at Disney World Resort, Brittni meets the princesses and rides Kilimanjaro Safaris. At Universal, Brittni enjoys the Minions and watching Animal Actors on Location! When not at Disney World Resort or Universal Orlando, Brittni spends time with her family and pets.

  1. Has anyone mentioned the word GREED ?!?!?!
Gordon Gekko was not right when he said, “Greed is good.”
Disney is becoming more of a luzury than and “common folk” vacation.
Maybe, just maybe, people will boycot Disney as a destination.
There seems to be no other way of getting to Management.
