New ‘Jurassic’ Theme Park Experience’s Areas Explained: Old and New

The latest behind-the-scenes featurette for “Jurassic Park: Survival” has fans excited for the next entry in the long-running franchise, not only for its iconic dinosaurs and immersive gameplay, but also for what it quietly confirms about the island itself.

At the 3:28 timestamp, players get a fleeting glimpse of an Isla Nublar map via Dr. Maya Joshi’s handheld device. When paired with concept art and gameplay snippets also revealed in the video, it gives a solid idea of how many locations we’ll be exploring.

The Visitor Center — the most iconic landmark of the original film — is front and center, rebuilt with striking detail and updated lighting effects. Players will also be able to explore iconic locations inside the Visitor Center, like the kitchen and the rotating movie theater.

The Jurassic Park gates can also be seen, along with lesser-known areas like an underground facility and the docks, as the game will explore corners of Isla Nublar that were hinted at but never realized onscreen.

Concept art showcased in the featurette even highlights the island’s under-construction hotel, a building that never appeared in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film but was part of Michael Crichton’s broader vision for Jurassic Park.

Meanwhile, gameplay shows Joshi moving through dense jungle environments that appear more expansive than anything seen before in a Jurassic game.

Maintenance tunnels are also featured, creating opportunities for more claustrophobic survival gameplay beneath the island’s surface. And of course, the main road — where the T. rex staged its unforgettable debut — looks set to be fully explorable.

All these elements confirm that “Jurassic Park: Survival “isn’t just a love letter to the movie — it’s a chance to immerse players in both familiar and long-lost areas of Isla Nublar.

The map itself may only appear in the video for a moment in the form of an in-game topography device, but combined with the video’s reveals, it’s proof that Saber Interactive is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to re-creating the world of Isla Nublar.

There’s no release date for “Jurassic Park: Survival”. The game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
