If you have visited Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, chances are that you stopped inside Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe and listened to the relaxing tunes by intergalactic crooner Sonny Eclipse.

The original Park character was arguably Disney World’s most famous in-house musician and was brought to life by the real-life musician Kal David. We at Disney Fanatic just got word that the man who gave Sonny Eclipse his voice has passed away. He was 45 years old.

The news first came from Tammy Tuckey, who shared on Twitter,

Sad news from Kal David’s family… Kal passed away today. Aside from being a wonderful musician and singer, many of us Disney fans know his as the voice of our alien friend, Sonny Eclipse. He will always be our Bright Little Star!

Kal’s wife, Lauri, also shared a touching statement on her Facebook, which reads as the following:

To family, friends, fans,
This morning my beloved husband, Kal David, with clarity and peacefulness in his heart, passed from this world. He wanted you all to know that he loved you and thanked you all for loving him. His music will live on as a testament to his incredible talent. He was a sweet, humble, wonderful man and the love of my life for 45 years…I will find my way into the future because that is what he asked of me…Please forgive me if I can’t return all the calls and messages I am receiving..I’ll do my best over time..I’m sending love and comfort to all of you.

A quick-service lunch at Cosmic Ray’s and listening to Sonny’s midday set is something of a tradition for this reporter whenever he visits the Magic Kingdom. May Kal’s musical legacy lives on in what is perhaps his most magical performance.

All of us here at Disney Fanatic send out condolences to Kal David’s family as they gain a Bright Little Star and Space Angel in the skies above.

We at Disney Fanatic will continue to update our readers on Disney Parks news and stories as more developments come to light.
