Many Disney Fanatics are familiar with the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which is a Disney establishment that can be found in locations like Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and even onboard Disney cruise ships!

In the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (which Ariel herself recently paid a visit to), children are given Disney princess or Disney prince makeovers.

Divided Disney Fanatics

Disney has made some changes to these boutiques recently that have left Disney Fanatics divided, with one notable change being the shift from “Fairy Godmothers” to “Fairy Godmother Apprentices” (a more gender-neutral term for boutique employees).

One staff member and Fairy Godmother Apprentice recently attracted a great deal of negative attention after being spotted in a fairy godmother outfit while sporting a beard — and now images of some other Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Disney employees have been shared online, attracting even more ire.

“Disturbed” Visitors?

“Disney has men dressed as women, wearing dresses greeting children at some of their attractions. Received both of these this week from disturbed visitors,” the Tweet shown above reads.

The first Fairy Godmother’s Apprentice who faced so much hate from trolls online was supported by many Disney fans who defended them and their right to wear a more traditionally-feminine article of clothing like a dress.

In the case of these two Cast Members, unfortunately, the people commenting and insulting them are being particularly unkind and crude. A variety of hostile comments have been posted in response to the Tweet shown above.

Do Children Actually Care?

When it comes down to it, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is meant to be a magical place for children — and as many people pointed out last time one of the Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices was bullied, the children experiencing the Disney character makeovers or Cast Member interactions will most likely just be happy to enjoy their time there, regardless of any adult employees’ Disney costume or outfit choices.

As one Disney fan aptly put it, “Whether you believe it or not, there are lots of little boys who want to dress as princesses (& girls who want to dress as the prince or a pirate), how nice for them to feel represented.”
