Earlier this week, Actress Evangeline Lilly took to social media defending the truckers and citizens participating in the Freedom Convoys in Ottawa, Ontario, and other parts of Canada to end all Covid-related restrictions such as mask mandates and even requiring vaccine passports to travel from province to province.
Now, rumors appear to be circulating that Lilly could be getting the “Gina Carano Treatment.” While they remain rumors, here’s what we know of the situation so far:
A Canadian actress herself, the star of Marvel’s Ant-Man franchise, defended the Canadian truckers Freedom Convoy against Prime Minister Trudeau and the corporate media narrative.
She addresses Trudeau directly, saying,
“They have been mystified because you and the corporate media have painted a very different picture. You as a group have gone from ignoring these protestors to dismissing them as a fringe minority to smearing them as racists and misogynistic to now attacking them as terrorists.”
She goes on to remind Trudeau that he did not just become Prime Minister of the people on his side, but all Canadians. Watch the full video below:

Trudeau ended his emergency powers on February 23, but the damage was already done. Videos of Police assaulting, arresting, and even trampling peaceful protestors flooded the internet. The Canadian Government also previously ordered the freezing of all bank accounts of those involved.
Fans on Twitter had a mixed reaction.
One fan showed support and even called out another high-profile Canadian actor, Ryan Reynolds, saying:
“Wise words from Evangeline Lilly, pity more high profile Canadians haven’t spoken out like this.”

Another fired back, saying,
I repeat: Recast. Immediate. They shoulda recast Letitia Wright. They should recast Evangeline Lilly. Ain’t nothing THAT special about em. There are much more talented (and sane) actors out there who can take up their spot & make the set a safe space.

And another fan simply said,
“Can’t wait for marvel to announce Evangeline Lilly new replacement as the wasp.”

Will Evangeline Lilly’s Comments Get Her Fired?

It is unclear and unlikely at this time if Lilly’s comments will lead to her premature departure from Marvel. It is arguably understandable why people’s thoughts would go to that point after Gina Carano was fired from the Star Wars Disney+ show The Mandalorian for sharing a post that compared the current social view of Covid mandates to the actions of everyday people during The Holocaust.
But, it appears Lilly only has one film left to complete: the third film of the Ant-Man franchise. Filming for that film, Ant-Man, and The Wasp: Quantumania, is already underway. One can argue the project is past the point of no return in matters of financial sense to find a new Wasp to co-star alongside Paul Rudd.
Only time will tell, though, if Disney will decide to end its relationship with Evangeline Lilly and if the decision is due to a Canadian Actress pleading with her Prime Minister for better treatment of the truckers.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled for release on July 28, 2023.
