A Disneyland Cast Member, @silly_cinder, took to Twitter to share the scary news that a confirmed case of Monkeypox had reached the Resort because “Disney isn’t gonna put it out.”
@silly_cinder posted on August 21, 2022:
“So probably because Disney isn’t gonna put it out, just so y’all know, we have a confirmed case of monkeypox at the resort.”
@silly_cinder also clarified in later Tweets,
“So you guys know this is for Disneyland, CA, not Florida”
“The cm with monkeypox posted on our cast fb page early this morning.”
“From the cm’s post they are quarantining, i believe they’re on medical and in contact with management. To clarify it is only 1 infected cm.”
As of now, this remains an unconfirmed report though it’s important to mention that the Disneyland Resort prides itself on maintaining the highest levels of safety and security for its Guests.

Monkeypox is a virus similar to smallpox that is spread most commonly by skin-to-skin contact with someone with the disease. Currently, the United States has more than 15,000 reported cases of Monkeypox, more than anywhere in the world. Earlier this month, the Biden administration declared Monkeypox a public health emergency.
Here is some more information from the CDC about the signs and symptoms of this virus:
“People with monkeypox get a rash that may be located on or near the genitals (penis, testicles, labia, and vagina) or anus (butthole) and could be on other areas like the hands, feet, chest, face, or mouth.
- The rash will go through several stages, including scabs, before healing.
- The rash can initially look like pimples or blisters and may be painful or itchy.
Other symptoms of monkeypox can include:
- Fever
- Chills
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Exhaustion
- Muscle aches and backache
- Headache
- Respiratory symptoms (e.g. sore throat, nasal congestion, or cough)
You may experience all or only a few symptoms”
At the time of this article’s publication, there is no official word from the Disneyland Resort on this matter.
Meanwhile, it appears @silly_cinder, after rousing a debate on social media, has since deleted their Twitter account, though users can still search their name and find pieces of the Twitter discourse.
