It’s the season for new openings and exciting announcements at Walt Disney World! Disney has just announced a brand new restaurant will be coming to Disney Park, EPCOT, on August 30, replacing an old favorite.
It’s no surprise that the Walt Disney World Resort is one of the most beloved Disney vacation destinations. The Disney Park is home to some of the most iconic attractions—think like Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Magic Kingdom, or Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park, and amazing lands like Pandora in Animal Kingdom Park. Alongside this, one of the best parts of a Walt Disney World vacation is the incredible eateries and watering holes at the Disney Resort. And now, Disney has announced a brand new one!
New Restaurant to Replace Tokyo Dining in EPCOT
Journalist Scott Gustin took to Twitter to share that a new restaurant, Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya, will open on August 30. The restaurant is replacing Tokyo Dining in the Japan Pavilion at EPCOT.
As Disney Parks Blog shared earlier this year, the restaurant will allow Guests to experience the “essence of Japan’s seasonal festivals.” Each month will bring a new celebration, “From hanging tanzaku to celebrate Tanabata in July to savoring moon-viewing dumplings in September.” The location also features a magnificent trellis inspired by the roof of the Phoenix Hall in Kyoto.

Tokyo Dining Closed For Good
As Guests can imagine, this means that the former favorite, Tokyo Dining, is closed for good. The restaurant was a sushi-focused Japanese restaurant that once featured a gorgeous view of EPCOT’s World Showcase Lagoon. It was also part of the Disney Dining Plan.
Disney Parks Blog announced the closure of Tokyo Dining earlier this year, but eased the blow with news of Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya’s opening.
Fans are incredibly excited at the news, calling it a “much overdue upgrade from Tokyo dining.”
At the moment, no information has been released about when Guests will be able to make reservations at the restaurant. Disney does note on the restaurant’s website, however, that the location has a cancellation policy and a modifications policy.
Per the website,
The credit card provided at the time of reservation will automatically be charged a per-person fee if you don’t show up for your reservation or fail to cancel in accordance with the policy, or if you fail to modify in accordance with the policy and then need to cancel.
