New Store Opens In Completely Reimagined Disney Area!

One year ago, Mickey’s ToonTown was closed at Disneyland Resort for an extensive overhaul. The area was undergoing a complete refurbishment, as well as getting a new attraction — Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The new ride would be nearly identical to the one that is open in Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. The newly refurbished Mickey’s ToonTown was originally scheduled to open on March 8, but the opening had to be pushed back. The area will now officially open on March 19.

In addition to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Mickey’s ToonTown will also feature CenTOONial Park, an open area for families to relax and enjoy the view. CenTOONial Park will have two interactive play areas. First, a water fountain featuring play tables. There will also be a “Dreaming Tree” with sculpted roots and areas for children to play in. Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin — which has been a ToonTown staple since 1996 — will remain in place. ToonTown will have a new, but distinctly classic Disney, feel.

While ToonTown won’t fully open until March 19 — in fact, most of it is still completely blocked off — Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway has been open since January 27. January 27 was the day Disney kicked off its 100th Anniversary celebration. However, Disney has decided to give Guests another pre-opening surprise. On March 10, Disney soft-opened a brand-new store next to Runaway Railway. EngineEar Souvenirs features a ton of merchandise for those who want to show their love for Disneyland’s newest attraction.

As you can see in the images, there are a couple of Runaway Railway tee shirts available for purchase, as we as a pair of ears, and a coffee mug. Gustin said that there was also a headband, an ornament, magnets, and a remote control toy car. There will also be more merchandise available when ToonTown opens on March 19.
