Closure announcements are par for the course in the world of Disney. While it certainly is disappointing to hear about our favorite attractions closing, most times, we can rest easy knowing that that favorite ride or attraction will reopen soon after. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule (think Splash Mountain and its Tiana’s Bayou Adventure retheme). However, today we bring tidings of another closure.
Pirates of the Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most popular Disney rides. They became so beloved that the rides even inspired the popular franchise, which has been in the news a lot lately, courtesy of Johnny Depp, and the classic “will he-won’t he” debate of his return to the series as the charming and swash-buckling pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow.
The ride first opened in Disneyland Resort in Southern California in 1967 and then in Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World Resort in 1973. Pirates of the Caribbean rides have been replicated in other Disney Parks worldwide, including Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland.
Our news today concerns Pirates of the Caribbean at an international Disney Resort, namely Disneyland Paris. This Disney Park was in the news recently for the official ending of the Eurostar route from London directly to Disneyland Paris and for Cast Members strikes.
However, our news today pertains to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride closing. Per the Disneyland Paris website, the attraction is presently closed to Guests. Disneyland Paris’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction closed for refurbishments on June 4, leaving many Disney fans unable to enjoy the ride.
The good news is the refurbishment is on the shorter side of closures, as the Disney ride will reopen at the end of the month on June 30.
So Disney fans can rest assured while the ride is gone, it will be back soon enough, and we can set sail on a refreshed voyage complete with musket fire and explosions, singing along to “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” soon enough once again!
