It doesn’t take a Disney expert to know the tainted image of Cast Members striking at the top tourist attraction in Europe is impacting ticket sales and reservations.
With tensions in Disneyland Paris boiling over on June 3 when the Cast Members and Disney security clashed, the severity of the month-long strike escalated to new heights. After minor demonstrations canceling renowned performances like “Stars on Parade” and “Dream… and Shine Brighter,” Disney ignored the pleas of Cast Members demanding better wages.
When Guests started to see the picketing and protests eclipse parades and performances in real-time, Disney finally responded—but only to the Guests. On June 1, Disney issued its first statement acknowledging the strikes on Park property, offering Guests the opportunity to change or cancel reservations ahead of a likely Park disruption.
Despite the Disney magic losing its luster at the Disneyland Paris Resort during the protests, Guests onsite have extended mainly support to the Cast Members. Requesting a monthly raise of $215, the Cast Members have been supported by Paris Unions to be compensated for the magic they create in the Parks. As they’ve rallied through Main Street U.S.A., The Avengers Campus, and beyond, they’ve shouted a resounding: “We are the parade.”
Guests Get Backlash Amid Strike Coverage
Yet another strike is underway at the Disneyland Paris Park on June 6, in the wake of Disneyland Paris President Natacha Rafalski breaking Disney’s silence on the matter. According to Rafalski, pay for the Disneyland Paris employees will not be negotiated before the August review despite ongoing strikes and Park disruptions.
While it’s clear Disney is taking a firm stance against the striking workers, it’s starting to take a turn in an unexpected direction. Reporting on all things Disney Paris, from bake shop openings to parade footage to the recent strikes, DLP Report has captured journalistic images throughout Disney’s recent events.
Typically objective and always comprehensive, DLP Report shared its most shocking update yet. In a tweet this morning as the latest strike was underway, @DLPReport posted the following:
Disney’s undercover security asked to see our park tickets while simply waiting in Central Plaza. They checked names and said they had been monitoring us taking photos of the strike. Have a magical day

In a bold move by the Mouse, the undercover security guards hinted at curtailing the coverage of the Cast Member strikes. With two months ahead of the Disneyland Paris camp before the August review and pay negotiations, it appears the Guests will be discouraged from capturing images and footage of the historical workers’ strikes in action.
At the time of writing, today’s protests are moving through Frontierland, reported by DLP Report to be “quieter than last weekend,” but Disney Fanatic will provide updates as they come.
