Disney Hotel Guests Forced To Live In the Dark, No Light Added During Stay

A Disneyland Resort guest recently shared a frustrating experience at the newly renovated Pixar Place Hotel, where multiple technical malfunctions turned a luxury stay into a dimly lit ordeal.

Pixar Place Hotel Faces Unexpected Issues

Pixar Place Hotel officially opened in January 2024, replacing Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel with a fresh, Pixar-themed redesign. The high-end resort, with nightly rates averaging around $600, offers exclusive perks like an alternate entrance to Disney California Adventure Park. But despite its price tag, some Disneyland Resort guests say the hotel struggles to meet expectations.

Redditor u/poohsyourdaddy_03 recently detailed their five-night stay at Pixar Place Hotel, calling the overall experience “great” but riddled with “pet peeves.” One of the biggest frustrations? A dark hotel room that remained unfixed throughout their visit.

“The lights in our room didn't work,” they wrote. “There's a huge mural behind the beds which we never saw front lit as they're meant to be seen.”

Elevator Nightmares and Park Access Issues

Unfortunately, the dim room wasn't the only problem. The Disneyland Resort guest also described a chaotic elevator system that left their family stranded for extended periods.

“The elevator system SUCKS,” they continued. “Really really really sucks. It's a call system which I use at work but they send them all the way up before coming back down so if you're on a lower floor, it gets to you already filled. It took me five cycles and 25 minutes to get downstairs from the 3rd floor with luggage. Request a higher floor if you stay here.”

Even the resort‘s exclusive entrance to Disney California Adventure Park, one of its biggest selling points, wasn't as convenient as expected.

“The Pixar entrance has been closing early each day,” they added. “If I left the park and wanted to come back after 12, I had to use other entrances. What's the point of having your own if it's not always open?”

Reviews From Other Pixar Place Hotel Guests

The guest acknowledged that there were positives to the stay, including the hotel's theming, dining, and location. “The onsite restaurant is great and it's a great location. Seeing Bing Bong on the lobby is another plus,” they wrote.

Other Disney Parks fans echoed their frustrations, particularly about the unreliable elevators.

“We just stayed 5 nights last week and had an absolute blast,” u/metalgeargod commented. “I'm sorry to hear about your room issues, but our room was great. Quiet too, even though we were right next to the elevator. I will say the elevator situation was rough, but we didn't have to wait more than a few minutes at most (we were on level 5). We were also bummed that the Pixar entrance closed at noon, however, we used it through the day to exit, which was a great perk.”

“The elevator system was our biggest negative staying there,” said u/g_j_b. “I ended up carrying my stroller down the stairwell because it took me almost 30 min of waiting and we were going to be late for reservations. The location, cleanliness, and theming were awesome and we would totally stay there again. But, I agree with you. The elevator system needs to be changed.”
