After Repeated Attacks and Stabbings, Theme Park Suggests Guests Pay for Private Security

After increased reports of violent attacks on guests at this American theme park, it’s now offering an added paid perk of a security guard.

It’s a strange time to be in the theme park business in the United States. On one hand, there’s a budding rivalry between Universal and Disney for the title of “best theme park.” Disney World and Disneyland certainly have much to offer, but lately, guests have been praising Universal Orlando for its attractions and competitive pricing.

Meanwhile, there’s another theme park that, rather than getting involved in the Disney-Universal rivalry, has begun offering paid security as a “perk” for guests.

Fan Shares Six Flags Offering VIP Tour With Option to Pay $$$ for Security

Recently, a fan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share that the theme park was soon to start offering a VIP Tour—much like the Walt Disney World Resort—except this VIP Tour has an option for people to pay $200 to add a security guard to their tour!

Check out the post from Gay Dragon:

In the original post, it appears that Six Flags is attempting to sell the add-on as guests being able to feel like a “celebrity.”

However, the Six Flags website further explains that “the safety of our guests and team members is our number one priority. If you feel a security guard is needed, or you just want that extra perk, you can add a security guard to your tour for an additional fee. To include, add a private security guard during the purchase process when you book your tour.”

Why might guests need security at Six Flags?

A former Six Flags manager responded, “Look I was a manager at a six flags theme park for a minute and I’m not gonna pretend I don’t understand how this happened. The park I was working at was small, and there were fights and stabbings semi regularly.”

And the unfortunate reality is, as the former manager shared, there is a precedent for this. A teenager was brutally beaten at Six Flags Over Georgia a few weeks ago, as reported by Inside the Magic. As the article explains, last month, on September 16, a 14-year-old boy was attacked as he left the theme park after attending Fright Fest.

The 14-year-old’s attorney, Mohammed Luwembo, explained the issue with Six Flags theme parks: “There is a systematic problem with a lack of security at Six Flags for patrons, specifically children,” he said. “The common theme is large groups of unescorted youth that are not being monitored by security or lack of security presence, and most importantly, a lack of security response.”

In response to the news about paying for private security, many wondered how much this feature would cost across different Six Flags theme parks in the United States. One questioned, “I wonder how much the security guard escort add-on will be at Michigan’s Adventure: A Six Flags Park.”

In contrast, we’ve reported previously on how Disney handles the safety and security of its guests with the sheriff has reportedly been spotted at Disney World on more than one occasion.

Regardless, for any Six Flags Theme Parks guests, private security is now an added perk you can choose to opt for!
