If there is one thing that conservatives love to go after Disney for, it’s the company’s “woke” policies and movies. Over the past few years, Disney has made a more concerted effort to make movies that they believe represent the world as it is today. That means that its movies and television shows now feature more diverse characters who do not always conform to what are considered “typical” gender roles.

In addition to the changes in its films and television shows, the company has made major changes from within. Disney recently added “Inclusion” to its core keys. It also changed up its dress code policies within the Parks. Cast members are now allowed to have facial hair and visible tattoos. They are also allowed to wear the costume that makes them feel the most comfortable. The company was attacked when some guests saw male cast members wearing skirts, but many people quickly defended the cast members.

While Disney CEO Bob Iger and other Disney executives have stood by the company’s decision to take a more progressive stance, a recent filing with the SEC (Securities & Exchange Commission), shows that the company does admit that “woke” politics could present a “risk”.
“Further, consumers’ perceptions of our position on matters of public interest, including our efforts to achieve certain of our environmental and social goals, often differ widely and present risks to our reputation and brands.”

Not long after Disney’s SEC filing became public, conservatives wasted no time in highlighting Disney’s admission. One of those people was Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999) star, Rob Schneider, who spoke about “woke lunacy.”

It should be noted that Schneider did not always hold extremely right-wing political views. From 1984 until 2013, he was actually a registered Democrat, but said that his views began to shift after Barack Obama was elected in 2008.
Schneider is now an avid supporter of Donald Trump and has defended the now-indicted President’s comments that have been deemed racist and sexist. The Waterboy (1998) actor even admitted to conservative pundit Glenn Beck that he would sacrifice his own career in defense of his extreme views.
Schneider appeared on Glenn Beck’s podcast on Monday, and during his appearance, he explained why he had to escape the “Democratic stranglehold,” claiming that the party is “no longer protecting the rights of the individual.” Schneider also ragged on his old stomping grounds, “Saturday Night Live,” claiming that the show was “over” when Kate McKinnon mourned Hillary Clinton’s 2016 loss onstage that night by unironically singing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
When asked point blank by Beck if Schneider would be “willing to lose it all” for this political beliefs, Schneider didn’t hesitate. “Absolutely,” the actor said, adding, “I don’t care about my career anymore.” In the days that followed, Schneider was dragged by Twitter for his comments, with most people mocking what his acting career is and was.

Of course, Schneider’s comments didn’t exactly go over as he might have planned. Many commented, asking Schneider what career he was talking about. Schneider has been in a number of films in recent years, but the last film that garnered a lot of attention for him may have been the 2010 film Grown Ups, in which he starred alongside Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, and David Spade.

Disney is facing near-constant attacks from those like Schneider, with the biggest attacks coming from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The controversial governor and the Mouse House have been battling it out for nearly two years, with Disney filing a lawsuit against Governor DeSantis in April 2023. The governor has declared multiple times that he “won” the fight against Disney.

However, constitutional law experts disagree with DeSantis’ claims. Disney is suing Governor DeSantis for violating its First Amendment right to free speech. The governor has admitted to doing so multiple times on his presidential campaign trail, and even in his new book.

Walt Disney is rolling over in his grave with what Disney has become. It’s absolutely infected from the board of directors to the parks. We have stopped going to the Orlando park until they return to some common sense and stop the lunacy. Pushing the agenda is killing the stock and bottom line numbers.
