“I’m going to Disneyland” has become an iconic announcement celebration after winning a big football game. But this week, football teams visit Disneyland before their big game.
As preparations for the Rose Bowl get underway in Pasadena, the two college football teams descended on Southern California for a special Disneyland reception.
On Wednesday, December 28, members of Penn State University’s and the University of Utah’s football teams participated in a special cavalcade down Main Street, U.S.A.
Disney Parks states,
In the cavalcade was Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham, along with Utah players: quarterback Cameron Rising, wide receiver Devaughn Vele, safety R.J. Hubert, and defensive tackle Devin Kaufusi. Also featured was Penn State coach James Franklin along with Penn State players: tight end Brenton Strange, long snapper Chris Stoll, linebacker Jonathan Sutherland and defensive end Nick Tarburton.
Additional participants were 2023 Rose Queen, Bella Ballard, and the 2023 Royal Court as well as The Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band.
Penn State and Utah will be playing in the 109th Rose Bowl game on January 2, 2023, at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET on Monday, Jan. 2, on ESPN and the ESPN app. Mickey and Minnie will be on hand to personally deliver the game ball before kick-off. They will also take part in the 134th Roses Parade, televised on ABC at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET on January 2. This is Utah’s second-consecutive visit to the Rose Bowl.
For the time being, The Walt Disney Company still owns ESPN and ABC.
