Disney’s motion picture production president, Sean Bailey, will be stepping away from the role he’s held for a decade and a half.
In yet another massive shakeup for the Walt Disney Company (it seems like they’re going through a rather large number of these), another senior executive will be stepping away from his role—though this time, it doesn’t appear that he has been fired.
President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production Sean Bailey Steps Away from Role
The mastermind behind many of Disney’s films like Peter Pan and Wendy, Haunted Mansion, and Jungle Cruise, Sean Bailey, will be stepping down as President. Mr Bailey will be replaced by David Greenbaum, head of Disney’s Searchlight Pictures.
Mr Greenbaum has been appointed to the newly-minted role of “president at Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios,” a sign of more internal restructuring at the Walt Disney Company since Disney CEO Bob Iger returned to the helm.
BBC reported on the story.
Per the latest news, “Disney said Mr Bailey will stay at the company as a producer on the upcoming science fiction movie Tron: Ares and other projects.”
“Sean has been an incredibly important member of the Studio’s creative team for well over a decade,” said Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman.”He and his team have brought to the screen iconic stories and moments that have delighted fans around the world and will stand the test of time.”
Mr Bailey was responsible for many successes for Disney; think The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin but also many box office failures.
This change comes at a time when Mr Iger has promised shareholders better tidings with Disney’s productions.

Glad he’s gone. Now maybe Iger will leave too.
