Splash Mountain’s Disrepair Is Becoming Dangerous for Guests

Before the classic Magic Kingdom ride called Splash Mountain closed — forever — in Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disney Guests were already seeing signs of dramatic disrepair and reporting frequent ride breakdowns or malfunctions.

Many Disney World Guests felt that, since the Disney World version of Splash Mountain was about to be closed down on a permanent basis to make way for the Princess and the Frog ride called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Disney’s Imagineers and mechanics were throwing in the towel early.

In disgruntled Disney Guests’ minds, Walt Disney Imagineering had decided to make no effort to keep the ride in working condition, which meant that the ride could not consistently continue to make Guests happy right up until its closure date.

There is still an operating version of the Splash Mountain ride in Disneyland across the country until the end of May, but apparently, the same problem is beginning there: Splash Mountain is breaking down before its permanent closure.

This time, however, the Disneyland Splash Mountain is actually breaking down in a manner that could be hazardous for Disneyland Guests!

According to a recent Disneyland visitor in a post on the website called Reddit, “Splash mountain is leaking at the end of the ride right before the loading/unloading area.”

“The ride has been down for about 4 hours today,” the Guest reported, “and I’m starting to think this is why since this wasn’t happening this morning.”

The unhappy Disneyland Guest also shared footage of the leak, which can be seen in the post shown below!

Obviously, a leak from a water ride is a huge cause for concern in a theme park.

The amount of water used in water rides is astronomical, and if all of that water were to break free since the Splash Mountain ride’s infrastructure is (presumably) being neglected right before its closure, then the results could be very dangerous for Disneyland Guests!

Have you visited either Splash Mountain location in the past year and noticed increasingly-dangerous signs of neglect?
