The classic Magic Kingdom ride Splash Mountain is heading to the wayside as its replacement Disney Park ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, arrives. Splash Mountain fans were originally angry about the closure of the Magic Kingdom attraction, with a petition gaining traction as fans submitted their signatures — but now that the Disney Park ride’s closure grows closer and reality has set in, fans have started to officially mourn the ride and share sentimental thoughts on its “passing.”
One such Splash Mountain enthusiast shared his quest for Splash Mountain mementos in a post on Reddit. “I’m not looking to get into the politics of it, but I’m having a hard time letting go of Br’er Rabbit,” the Reddit user wrote in the post shown below. “Shout out to MovieProps2000 on Etsy. It’s like he took it right out of Splash Mountain’s queue.”

The Reddit user UnderCoverDoughnuts was referring to a Br’er Rabbit memento from Etsy seller MovieProps2000, which they had also shared a photograph of in the discussion. There were several responses to the post, with Disney fans mourning the ride — however, some Disney fans seem to have accepted the Magic Kingdom ride’s fate as Walt Disney Imagineering shifts the ride to a New Orleans setting.
“I get that Splash Mountain is iconic,” one Reddit user replied. “But Disney needed to move on from that character.”
Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort have not actually confirmed an exact closure date for the famous Disney ride about Br’er Rabbit and “Zip a Dee Doo Dah,” but since Walt Disney Imagineering has been releasing lots of information about the progress that Imagineers are making on the replacement ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (including a big D23 Expo reveal), Splash Mountain’s closure seems to be coming sooner rather than later.
The new Princess and the Frog ride will focus on Princess Tiana (or Chef Tiana, as she might be known in New Orleans) and her Mardi Gras celebration with companions like Prince Naveen and Louis the alligator in the bayou. Do you have mixed feelings about the transition from Splash Mountain to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? Do you have any memorabilia honoring Splash Mountain?
