Disney’s Hollywood Studios used to be the park that families flocked to for some of Disney’s most thrilling attractions and immersive lands. But something has shifted in 2025. More families are leaving this park off their itineraries, and the reasons might surprise you.
First off, construction seems to be everywhere. From the reimagining of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster into a Muppets-themed ride to the overhaul of Muppets Courtyard into a Monsters, Inc. land, large portions of the park are walled off. While these changes are exciting in theory, families visiting now are left navigating a park filled with closures, making it hard to justify a full-day visit.
Then there’s the issue of kid-friendly options—or rather, the lack of them. Hollywood Studios is packed with thrill rides like Tower of Terror and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, both of which have height restrictions that exclude younger children. Even Slinky Dog Dash, while more family-friendly, still has a minimum height requirement. For parents traveling with toddlers or preschoolers, the park doesn’t offer enough to fill an entire day of fun.
Another factor that’s turning families away is the absence of anything new in 2025. Unlike other parks that are debuting fresh attractions, Hollywood Studios doesn’t have any new rides or shows planned until 2026. For families who don’t visit Disney World often, this lack of new experiences makes it easier to skip the park in favor of others that offer something different.
EPCOT, for example, has become a standout choice for families — and it’s not just because of the rides without height restrictions. With new attractions like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (no height requirement) and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, plus interactive experiences like Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, it’s no wonder families are gravitating toward this newly refreshed park. In fact, some families have shared that their kids unanimously voted for EPCOT over Hollywood Studios when choosing which park to visit—a surprising shift given Hollywood Studios’ recent popularity.
So, should you skip Hollywood Studios in 2025? For families with thrill-seeking teens or Star Wars superfans, it might still be worth a visit. But for those with younger kids or limited time at Disney World, it might be better to hold off until the park’s new attractions are open and the construction dust has settled.
No matter what, Disney World has plenty of magic to offer—even if Hollywood Studios isn’t the star of the show this year!
