After a flurry of reports and sightings, Disney Parks officially confirms that the Walt Disney World Railroad is testing its track yet again, and it looks like it is testing the new track laid between the Fantasyland Station and the other side of Tomorrowland.

Disney Parks shared the news on TikTok with the caption, “Choo Choo! Testing is just beginning for the Walt #DisneyWorld Railroad Crew.”

The Walt Disney World Railroad has been out of commission for almost 2,000 consecutive days as both the pandemic lockdowns and extended construction of TRON: Lightcycle Power Run has continued to keep the Gand Circle Tour of the Magic Kingdom closed to Guests. Due to the nature of the new Tomorrowland attraction standing over the tracks, it appears that the completion of TRON is tied completely to the iconic steam train’s return.

While Disney Parks attempts to spark hope and excitement in the eyes of Disney Fanatics, the Disney World website shows otherwise.

According to the site, the Walt Disney World Railroad remains listed as “Closed for Refurbishment” through the weekend of December 25, suggesting that the only train The Magic Kingdom will have in operation at Christmastime will be the one circling the massive Christmas Tree in Main Street U.S.A.’s Town Square.

The Walt Disney World Railroad is not just another attraction fans are crying to have back. It is an effective people mover that draws hundreds of Guests off of the Magic Kingdom walkways to move from one part of the Park to the other, three separate trains offer stops at Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, and Fantasyland (with easy access to Tomorrowland). All would-be Guests looking to visit The Magic Kingdom for the Holidays should keep in mind that they are visiting Disney World at its most popular time of the year with one of its best crowd-control mechanisms still out of commission.

According to the latest updates from Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, TRON: Lightcycle Power Run is still expected to finally open at Magic Kingdom Park sometime in the Spring of 2023. It is unclear when the Walt Disney World Railroad will begin carrying passengers again.

We at Disney Fanatic will continue to update our readers on Disney Parks news and stories as more developments come to light.
