According to the Disney Careers website, the Walt Disney World Resort is hosting online auditions for stunt performers, and specifically those with experience on trampolines.
The performer requirements in the description for the job posting are very vague, so we cannot determine for sure which show this might be for at the Disney park. The listing simply states that the resort is looking for “Stunt Actors with Tramp Wall” experience.
Those interested in auditioning for the role, which will be based at the Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida, may submit a video audition through the Disney Careers website by January 3, 2022. If selected for an in-person callback for this stunt performer position, auditions will be held in Orlando on January 27, 2022.
There is not currently a show operating at the Walt Disney World Resort that uses trampolines of any kind. Without having details for the new show, it is possible stunt performers are needed for the newly reimagined version of Finding Nemo: The Musical when it reopens as “Finding Nemo: The Big, Blue and Beyond” later next year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.
While Festival of the Lion King is currently open, albeit in a modified form known as “Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King” and some fans have speculated that the job posting could be in reference to the “tumble monkeys” whose scene is not in the current version of the show. It does not seem like the show in question could be anything currently located in the or EPCOT.
The Epic Stunt Spectacular, which recently reopened at Hollywood Studios, does not utilize stunt performers in this capacity, so we do not believe this show is the one referenced in the job posting.
The most likely show? Fantasmic. Disney has already announced that Fantasmic would be returning to both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2022, and the Walt Disney World version of the show utilizes trampolines. This fact may be unknown to Guests as the trampolines are difficult to see from the audience, but during the Pocahontas sequence, stunt performers climb along the side of the mountain, and in the case of John Smith use a rope to swing across the mountain with some of them falling to the ground…except it isn’t the ground, it’s a trampoline.
We feel confident in our guess that the posting for stunt performers is for Fantasmic, so we hope this is welcome news to fans of the show, and perhaps for anyone hoping to audition!
