What to do with Josh D’Amaro? Disney Fans Discuss Disney Parks Chairman

Josh D'Amaro Disney

While most of the Disney fans’ conversations have revolved around Bob Iger and Bob Chapek, the focus appears to turn to who many consider to be the third man at the top: current Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro.

Taking over the position from now-former CEO Bob Chapek, D’Amaro has overseen the Disney Parks as they experienced a drastic change of higher prices and lower Guest approval. But, somehow, the former Disneyland and Disney World President has dodged most of the blame for the Theme Parks’ perceived deterioration. And Disney fans are starting to speak up about it.

One fan mentioned, “When Iger was CEO and Chapek ran the parks and something bad happened in the parks we blamed Chapek. When Chapek was CEO and D’Amaro ran the parks and something bad happened we blamed Chapek. Uh… who do we blame now?”

Another fan stated, “This is why D’Amaro needs to go. Iger could actually fix staffing issues, get rid of Park Reservations, and re-vamp Genie+ to what it was right before it. Disneyland had max pass and it worked SO MUCH BETTER.”

Now, some fans were quick to side with D’Amaro, arguing that he was working under Chapek with Chapek’s budget. Many even declared their desire to see Iger make D’Amaro his new “apprentice” and future successor. But these comments were met with resistance.

As another fan mentioned, “D’Amaro has zero accomplishments or legacy in the 22 years with Disney. It’s amazing how many people go to bat for him just because he hugs, cry’s, and looks good in a cardigan. One thing D’Amaro is brilliant in is office politics in moving up the company ladder.”

This is not the first time fans have spoken up against the former Park President “pretty boy.” Disney Fanatic recently reported fans almost defending Chapek, demanding their peers ignore D’Amaro’s “pretty privilege” and give credit for Park changes like Genie+ and the Theme Park Reservation System where it is due: with the Chairman of Disney Parks.

At this point, it is unclear if Josh D’Amaro will be shown the door anytime soon. But, what is clear is that there is a lot of change that is expected to come with Bob Iger’s return.
