Anyone who has been on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation can tell you that it is not the most relaxing experience. It can seem more like an exercise program disguised as a vacation. Guests walk miles and miles each day, wait in long lines, and try to beat the intense Florida heat. All this exhaustion can lead to some very short tempers. While most people know how to act in public, some people seem to forget and let their anger flare. Such a thing happened late last year and resulted in a woman being permanently banned from Disney.
According to a recently released report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a woman was permanently banned from The Most Magical Place on Earth after the way she acted in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park.
The report states that two older women were waiting in line for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride in Fantasyland. As they were waiting, a young woman — identified as Eboni McFarley of Florida — tried to push past them with her four young children. McFarley said that she was meeting her family further up in the line. However, the two women — from Maryland — refused and told McFarley to go wait in the back like everyone else. McFarley did not like being told that, and things went downhill from there.
The report states that McFarley “became agitated”, and pushed past the women. She scratched one of the women with her fingernail, causing the older woman to bleed. However, those two women were apparently not the only Guests McFarley got aggressive with. Multiple witnesses told police they were also shoved and pushed out of the way by McFarley. One woman who also tried to prevent McFarley from moving was shoved up against a rail in the queue. Video footage of some of the incident was given to police.
McFarley, on the other hand, claimed that she did nothing wrong. She went so far as to say that the people in line were racially profiling her. McFarley is African American.
They maintained that they felt they were being victimized and profiled because they are African-(American). Eboni maintained she did not batter or push anyone. She did express a concern that her children were touched during the incident, however my investigation did not reveal any information to support this.
The officer involved noted that he did not interview the four children who were with McFarley. The original two women said that they were willing to testify against McFarley and wanted her arrested and prosecuted.
Ms. McFarley was arrested and taken to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and booked on battery charges. However, the prosecutor felt that the case was not suitable for prosecution, so McFarley will face no more legal action.
McFarley ended up being “trespassed” from Walt Disney World Resort — meaning she is no longer welcome on the property.
