Fans Drag Woman After She Calls Disney Adults “Pathetic” and “Disturbing”

The Disney adult debate has been a constant back-and-forth for years now. While many older people want to enjoy everything the Walt Disney Company and its theme parks offer, others just love to attack them.

Certain critics say that Walt Disney World and other vacation destinations are for families and children. Furthermore, the presence of these Disney adults just adds to the wait times and annoyances of visiting a Disney park. However, one woman’s criticisms went a bit too far, and Disney fans were not letting her get away with it.

The Disney Adults Debate

The term “Disney adults” has become a subject of criticism and discussion in recent years, as it refers to a group of adults who have a deep and enduring passion for all things Disney, including its movies, theme parks, merchandise, and more.

While many people find joy and nostalgia in Disney’s creations, some critics argue that this level of devotion can be excessive and even infantilizing. They contend that “Disney adults” may be too fixated on a brand designed for children to the detriment of their adult responsibilities and interests.

Critics of Disney adults often point to the phenomenon of adults visiting Disney theme parks without children, wearing Disney-themed clothing, or even having Disney-themed weddings as examples of this intense devotion.

Some argue that this behavior can perpetuate unrealistic ideals and expectations associated with the Disney fairy tale world, potentially leading to dissatisfaction in real-life relationships and experiences. They also just think it’s weird.

However, it’s important to note that not all criticism is negative. Some argue that Disney adults are simply passionate enthusiasts who have found a way to connect with their inner child and embrace Disney’s magic and nostalgia. For many, it’s a way to bond with friends and family, create lasting memories, and find a sense of escape from the stresses of everyday life.

The main response that permeates all of these debates is that people should be able to like whatever they want, free of criticism, as long as it doesn’t directly affect other people in a negative way.

Criticism Goes Too Far

Reddit user Mountain_State4715 took to the r/unpopularopinion subreddit recently to vent about her opinion of Disney adults. The post has since been deleted by moderators, but this user’s view of these enthusiastic fans went a little too far.

She claimed that Disney adults were “pathetic” and “disturbing.” Furthermore, the user said she could never befriend “someone that shallow.”

When I meet other adults who fill their social media with Disney, put Disney crap on their vehicles, think taking your kids to Disney = parental requirement, etc… I instantly know we can never be friends.

I could never click with a person that shallow. And yes if you’re an adult obsessed with Disney, you’re an extremely shallow person, and likely not very intelligent either.

For the record, I don’t HATE Disney, but the weird obsession some people have is disturbing.

Adults who are obsessed with Disney are pathetic.

Disney Adults Critic Receives Backlash

The thread discussing this opinion escalated fast. In a mere 24 hours, over 2,000 people came to the defense of Disney adults. Most people were annoyed with this user’s opinion of Disney adults, thinking she went way too far in her views. One gave a blunt quote by C.S. Lewis.

When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up. C.S. Lewis

Another response linked the folly of attacking one obsession over another. They used sports as an example, receiving over 3,600 upvotes.

The most obvious analogy here is sports. There are plenty of dudes where you can scroll through their social media and nearly every single post is related to whatever sports team they’re obsessed with. For whatever reason, that obsession is seen as normal, but not something like disney. At the end of the day, our obsessions will always look weird to people who don’t share them, and normal to people who do.

Finally, another highly-rated comment turned the tables on the original poster. They said taking the time to judge people’s hobbies was also a bad look.

Since we’re sharing opinions, people who judge other people’s harmless obsessions are also pathetic.

Do you think this user went too far in her opinions? Are you a Disney adult who could care less what this Reddit user thinks, or do you agree with her statements? This world is hard enough, and any source of joy should be celebrated, not destroyed.

  1. I am a 60 plus Disney lover! I love Mickey and Minnie, I have a Disney jacket, backpack ect. What am I hurting?! I would love to be able to go to Disney and be able to totally enjoy it ! When you take your children it’s fun watching through their eyes but your constantly worried about their needs, can’t go on some rides if kids too young. Standing in long lines when they are tired , whiny isn’t always fun. Besides whose paying when we all go to Disney? Adults. Just my opinion

  2. I couldn’t care less what this sad person thinks. Life is short, enjoy whatever makes you happy and don’t be so judgmental. I will ALWAYS love my Disney and I don’t care who knows it.

  3. It befuddled me when I read the comment regarding people that love WDW and all that Walt Disney and those that think they need to grow up.
The passion those who love Disney well balanced for the clean family entertainment. I find it extremely refreshing for clean wholesome family entertainment.
I hope that you find your happiness elsewhere.
