The early 2000s were a magical time. Well…in some ways.

Back in 2002

Although there were no smartphones, the world was on the bring of WWIII, Disney kept producing flops, and Universal Studios had just opened a new theme park.

So…perhaps it was more similar to today than we think…hmm…

But nevertheless. When it came to pop culture, it was a unique time to be alive. In addition to iconic stars starting out, such as Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, and Beyonce, it was also a time of boy bands.

There were many all-male groups, such as Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, NSYNC, and Boyz II Men. You would have heard all of these on any top 40 radio station 20 years ago.

But who’s coming to Disney? 4*TOWN.

4*TOWN – The Disney Boy Band

The band had such hits as Nobody Like U and 1 True Love. Despite the band’s name, it had five members: Aaron Z., Aaron T., Robaire, Jesse, and Tae Young.

The boy band (which actually is fictional) was featured in Disney Pixar’s Turning Red (2022), which takes place in 2002.

Disney has recently announced a special event returning to Disneyland Resort in 2024. This event, called Pixar Fest, will run from April 26 to August 4.

It will also include colorful décor, themed menus, and unique souvenirs throughout the Disneyland Resort hotels, theme parks, and the Downtown Disney District.

The event will also feature an all-new parade called “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” Debuting at Disney California Adventure Park, it will contain Pixar-themed floats, including one that displays characters from Turning Red.

Earlier this year, Disney had announced casting calls for the featured characters. At the time, they were looking for actors to portray Miriam, Abby, Priya, Jin Lee, and all 4*TOWN band members.

However, it is unclear to what extent 4*TOWN will perform. Will they simply be dancing to songs, lip-syncing the lyrics, or will they actually be singing? We’ll have to wait and see…

Meanwhile, Disneyland Park‘s nighttime show “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” will return but offer some new scenes.

It’s also been hinted that characters such as Ember and Wade from Elemental, Panda Mei from Turning Red, and more may be showing up.

About Steven

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
